If Hart hires Jones what team do you cheer for?

Lifelong Tennessee fan. However if Hart hires Butch Jones I am done. Before you say I'm not a real fan let me say this. I am just a fan and I expect the AD at Tennessee to care about the program AT LEAST AS MUCH AS I DO! If Butch Jones is the coach he clearly does not. So I will be done! That also goes for Smart or Tubbs. So after all that if it's one of those three I'm going Texas A&M the T on there helmet is same as Tennessee so I guess I'll have that? Hope Hart has a plan for a great hire. However it's looking more and more like he is driving a nail into Tennessee's coffin!

Well I'll always be a UT fan but if its Jones I sure won't make it known. I already have dealt with enough jokes and ridicule from the past few years and now the AD making it impossible to defend myself being a fan or the team. So while I'll always be a fan I sure won't be wearing anything UT related as long as we have another bottom of the barrel coach leading our team to embarrassing loss after embarrassing loss.

Agreed.. piss on jones.. im a die hard ut fan but not a lady partS having democrat like a lot of UT fans have become. What ever happened to " if it aint orange it aint ****" like the old days.. hell as a 16 yr old i bought a bumper sticker saying that in front of Neyland

Shame on you. I've said that if we hire Fedora or Golden that I would refuse to watch games or buy merchandise.

But I would never switch teams. That's ridiculous.

There a big difference between support and passion.

I've personally been waiting on buying any UT gear as Christmas gifts until I know what happens. I'll support the players but I'll be damned if I support an administration that gives the finger to the fan base the way it appears UT is about to.

Focus your anger where it belongs And not on Butch Jones.

You've now seen too very similar coaching searches. Numerous coaches pulling back the curtain on UT and deciding that it's not for them. There are much bigger systemic issues in place causing UT to be rejected.

Focus your anger on those issues, and support Jones and the team.

Do yourself a favor and read Skeeter's posts on the subject.

This goes far passed Jones and Hart.

They could hire a grocery bagger from Krogers on Chapman Hwy and I would still cheer for the BIG ORANGE!

I'm right there with you. I don't care what some here say. I've followed Vols football religiously since 1984 or so....but I am going to have to hand my fan card in as long as we keep making these abysmal hires at AD and they make abysmal hiring decisions. Hamilton and Hart are the double-barrled middle finger salute to Tennessee Football!

From what multiple media sources (TFP and KNS), the Gruden hang up was staff salaries. Are you funking kidding me? We are going to flush the whole program down the damn toilet for the foreseeable future over that BS?

Can we not take up a collection and hire Two Men and a Truck to visit his house? At least to send a clear message to this joker.

For some reason I can't picture that (staff budget) as the reason Gruden wasn't hired. There couldn't have been that much of difference in what he wanted and UT was offering. If all the rumors are true, and that was the main issue, Hart must have a serious ego to let Gruden walk for an extra million. BTW, I don't know if a million is the difference or not. I'm just taking a guess. There's no way Hart is that dumb to not make a "home run" type hire because of staff budget issues. Or at least I hope he's not! If it ever truly comes out, it would be wise to buy stock in Tempur-Pedic.

It isn't his fault that he's getting a job that's out of his league. I'd love nothing more than him to prove me wrong. He did go 2-1 vs Strong, and the loss was in OT.
Support the coach, but this Hart guy has got to go.

Then I will support him 100%. Am I totally happy with the hire? No, but I wasn't going to be 100% happy unless it was Gruden or Stoops, so there you have it. The biggest thing here, Jones lost to Dooley. That's a fact, and it cannot be disputed. However, people seem to forget that the only loss Cincy had that season was to UT, and they proceeded to rape every other team sans lube. People also forget that our 2011 team was a significantly better football team before Justin Hunter fell at UF.

Short and sweet: If it is jones, I think we'll be just fine, we're still UT, and we'll still find a way.

It's not so much the coach himself. It's the fact that we have Gary Patterson sitting right there (can't tell me he wouldn't come if we offered up to $5mill (4.25-4.5 with SECC/NC incentives). Then there are coaches from the NFL ranks that would be considered homerun hires (Del Rio, Greg Roman, Hugh Jackson or Josh McDaniels). Plenty of good coaches out there. I'd even take Butch Davis over Jones.

Can't tell me Tressel isn't a better hire than Jones (screw the show cause at this point...it's a 5 game penalty on him, not the program). I'd gladly give the reigns over to an Assistant HC/Coordinator in order to get a proven winner in here, long term.

I'll continue to cheer for the same team that I've cheered for for the last 40 years, but something has to be done with the administration.

Look Tennessee has took a huge PR hit because of Dave Hart. You have to understand Tennessee is at a crossroad right now in football. Tennessee needs a name hire. Butch Jones maybe a good coach, Smart maybe a good coach. Who knows but Tennessee does not have the time to find out. This is SEC football! Look at the coaches in this league. And Hart wants to hire Butch Jones!?!? He would be laughed out of living rooms of recruits right now. Time to bite the bullet Hart go get Petrino!!!!!!!!

FYP. Screw the damn NCAA BS. There is no NCAA Boogie Man waiting around the corner. Tressel is one of the 3 best coaches in the past decade and we are treating him like he's got a scarlet letter. It's all PR BS. 5 games of him sitting out is a tiny price to pay, to get this right.
