Just hope you don't have a pre-existing condition or don't make much money...Yet, there are programs out there from private insurance companies that help out these people all the time, IF they choose to look. It's a lot easier to just ***** about something than to actually take the situation in to your own hands and go look for some insurance.

FALSE... pre-existing conditions screw a lot of people over. People without much money can't afford health insurance
No, I'm one of those that know there are hard workers out there that don't have health insurance because their companies don't provide it... Without help from somewhere, health insurance will put the average american in debt.
Trust me, if i wasn't married, I'd be up the creek as far as insurance goes.
Then you'd be bankrupt if you're like the average american
See though, there are programs to take care of the lower income people, without making America as a whole, pay for it. Insurance companies are free to do as they please, and honestly, I think that's the way it should be. Also, people get healthcare everyday that don't have insurance, and they get more of a discount paying cash, than do the insurance companies paying the hospitals once your insurance takes over. If people want cheaper healthcare, I can think of Four BIG options that would lead to more affordable healthcare...
1. Open up healthcare and health insurance to be interstate commerce. Competition always makes for better prices.
2. Inform people that higher deductibles can lower insurance premiums. If you don't use healthcare that much, then don't pay for the program has the lower deductibles. Perfect example, my wife and I recently went to a $6,000 deductible and it lowered our premium from $320 a month to $146 a month. That's almost $200 a month in our pockets because we don't use it that much, but we have the coverage if it's there.
3. Don't use OVER use healthcare. There are some people that will go to the doctor for any reason and clog up waiting rooms to get a doctor to tell them to take some Tylenol. If people don't overwhelm it, it works better and prices come down because the demand is smaller and they have to equal it out.
4. Become fiscally responsible. It you eat too much, smoke, drink, have credit cards maxed out, or owe for a car, STOP BUYING STUFF and get yourself some health insurance and stop expecting people to provide it for you.
Until we as American's stop thinking healthcare is a right and something we use like toilet paper, they will continue to stick it to us, and no government mandates with keep them from doing so.
Average hospital stay: 5 days, $22,596 - Pacific Business News (Honolulu):
who can afford that without insurance??? Thank goodness Obama is doing something about that
I know this is probably a silly question, but can someone tell me who determines the costs for medicine and medical procedures? I am doubting it is insurance companies, so need to know how this is going to "control" costs. That whole making the doctor out to be the bad guy was never going to work for the Obamaites though, had to pick a better target.
