If I hear one more comment about stars!!!!

Is too much invested in recruiting star power?

on a side note, i hate to pull this card, but has anyone ever noticed there is usually a correlation between members with lesser post counts that voice this "oh, Chris Johnson was a 2 star and look now" mentality? i would love to say that there isnt, and i dont want to be that guy to judge, but truthfully, im very tired of idiots with little to no knowledge about recruiting making an account to give everyone crap about star ratings. but then again, im just a loser that typically relies on Sab and LV for info :dunno:

I've actually noticed a much lesser correlation than I expected, but that might be expectation bias.

You dont know they have better coaches. In fact Wilcox is from Boise and get ready to see what you saw in the bowl game versus TCU.

Weak conference or not they normally beat the teams from power conferences.

They have better coaches.

Oh yes...this is the most dreaded time of year for me. Right after Spring game but not quite summer. Let's complain about stars after we argue should've/could've/would've Fulmer....I'll hang up and listen.

To all the burnouts look at my number of posts

Goes back to coaching, Oklahoma was totally out coached by BSU in the Fiesta Bowl.

That's true. I think Bob Stoops is fantastic, but in some BCS games, they've been no shows. They're in those games so often, it's not completely surprising, but it does happen sometimes.

The big thing I took from that game is that OU played seriously for about 15 minutes and it was obvious talent was to much. Credit to BSU for pulling it out in an unbelievable game, but if OU was playing for the title, that doesn't happen.

Hard to say, they have flopped in title games as well...getting beat like drum by USC proves that.

It's about probability of success with stars, but to be honest, that all goes out the window when you step on campus.

Bingo.

Giving a kid a 5* rating means he has all the tools to be successful, doesn't mean it will happen.

They got drilled by the 2004 Trojans, who were really good. However, I'll admit they didn't play as well as they should have.

The other title game losses include a de facto road game against LSU, and a loss to a better UF team in Florida.

Indeed but the examples aren't limited to BSU...Utah beating Alabama was another example, those teams are very well prepared and have talent...talent that fits their systems.

Something a lot of people seem to overlook, it's great to get a highly sought after prospect but if he doesn't really fit your system it could be all for not.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I think you would see a different Bama team in another game. The best mid major I can remember is the 2004 Utah team. I wish they got a better opponent in the BCS game. Every now and then, the mid majors make their mark, and the next year, when their big time opponents are ready, they get killed. I don't think that will change.

They are making strides on the field, not to mention what is going on off of it.

We could see BSU, Utah, TCU in power conferences soon, all the realignment that is sure to take place, good chance those teams don't get left out in the cold.

Post count shows no positive correlation with posting intelligence. In fact, it's more likely you are either: a) A high school kid with nothing better to do or b) someone much older with nothing better to do; either you sit in an office all day or you have a pretty boring home life...b) sounds pretty sad.

So because I have posted less than you I am in idiot. Hmmm, guess I will wait till I'm on post 50,000 to voice my opinion. Oh crap gotta go I have a life.

not exactly. post count doesnt mean a thing. most of mine have been from the sideline jibber jabber and acknowledgement of other posts. there have been many others on here with low post counts that come around occaisionally with very useful information.

then there are people like you, who come on here an basically tell everyone else they know nothing and rely too much on star ratings and that you can build a championship team in the SEC on 2 and 3 star players.

Which one are you?
