If Pete Carroll to the Seahawks happens...

I could see Del Rio since his franchise is up in the air, crowds suck and there is alot of talk about moving the team, I would look at it if I was him.

i'm not sure i want scroggins.. i wonder what bray's family is thinking right about now?

I'm not sure this should bother them all that much.. From what I've heard, they are happy in Knoxville and I don't see Scroggins becoming any threat to Bray even if he did decide to come to UT. Bray>Scroggins, IMO.

This rivals article that got posted last night basically says that many of the 5-star commitments to USC, including Dillon Baxter, Kyle Prater, and Robert Woods are all pretty much blind-sided by this news. The USC coaching staff apparently won't talk to them to let them know what is going on. Meanwhile, their phones are ringing off the hook from other coaching staffs. These guys all pretty much seem to be saying that Carroll is the reason they are committed to USC.

Okay. I missed this my first time through the article. Prater was supposed to be flying to Los Angeles after the game in San Antonio tonight, and he was going to start classes at USC on Monday. How that plays out should be interesting.

My guess is Prater's only option (besides going to USC) at this point is to withdraw from USC and sign with another school on NSD thus giving up his ee status. Is it too late for him to enroll at another school for the spring semester?

i don t think it would be seen as a "threat", but it would certainly be seen as a very different situation

Exactly. I'm not exactly sure what the rules are in this situation. If he was truly going to start classes on Monday, wouldn't that mean that he had to have already enrolled and registered? If he doesn't show up, does that count? I'm sure somebody on here knows the answers to those questions, but I don't. Also, who is to say that the article is correct when it says that he was going to begin classes on Monday. Maybe the truth of the matter was that he was going to register for classes on Monday.

I agree but having an athletic backup or a guy as your 1a with Scroggins skill set isn't a bad thing at all!

From www.collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com---

With Carroll's departure now seemingly out of the way, the focus will shift to the bastion of Trojans football's replacement.

Per various reports, Oregon State head coach Mike Riley seems to be the leader in the clubhouse. Other candidates could include Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh, current Washington coach and former USC assistant Steve Sarkisian, and a pair of current NFL head coaches -- Jeff Fisher of the Tennessee Titans and Jack Del Rio of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Which WOULD leave a opening for CUM in Jacksonville where rumblings of drafting Timmy have been ongoing for awhile.

ol' Pete is running from several things....losing several key seniors, several juniors leaving for NFL, and probable NCAA investigation, plus his team is rated in the high teens for the way too early rankings next season. His team wasn't that "dominate" this past year. I think a few other PAC-10 teams have caught up to his talent. In other words, he wasn't guaranteed a BCS bowl over the next few seasons. Every good thing comes to an end, just look at FSU over the last few years compared to the 1990's. It is time for UT and FSU to rise back to the top of college football. Like it or not, FSU will also be back in the national title mix soon. I hope there are several surrpises for us today as far as new commits!!!!! Go Big Orange, raid the cupboard!

He's running, maybe.

But he's also getting a significant pay increase. 35 million!

He's topped out at the college level. Time to go.

And yes, the heat in the kitchen is getting a little hot at USC. Time to go.

He could not have played it out more perfectly.

I really can't see Pete Carroll leaving Southern Cal for the Seahawks, he has already proved he is much better in college than in the pros. He has everything at USC, great boosters to help with the players, money, beatiful weather, and beautiful women, he has everything he could want.

You left out the ncaa suits.

On the Rivals message board there is someone reporting that Prater has texted Mike Farrell this morning and said that he will not be enrolling early at USC until he finds out what is happening with the coaching situation there. He and other recruits have still not heard anything from the USC coaching staff.

Fisher is a tough call. I think he literally felt his @$$ on fire when the Patriots treated the Titans like they were a Pop Warner team.

Fisher is an absolutely tremendous coach. He does more with less than any coach in the NFL. His GM, on the other hand, is a moron, and Fisher lands squarely on the hot seat every two to three years because his teams have very limited talent. If I were Fisher and USC offered me the gig, I would drop the Titans in a heartbeat.

We won't pick up any extra guys from USC. Just like the announcer said. Most kids are comited to the school not the coach. Go figure. I don't see us picking up anybody new today at the game.
