If Pete Carroll to the Seahawks happens...

If/when Carroll leaves, it's looking like finding a new HC will be the least of USC's worries.

To echo what others said, it definitely seems like a done deal. All of the Southern California sports guys were saying that they would be almost shocked if it didn't happen. Also heard reports that Carroll was in Seattle today meeting with Seahawks officials. A couple of replacements mentioned for USC: Jim Harbaugh, Norm Chow, Mike Riley.

the only reason i see it happening is because of the allegations with joe mcknight and they are offering him president to!

Pete Carroll has reached agreement with the Seahawks on a deal to be their next head coach, multiple NFL sources confirmed early Saturday morning - ESPN, Adam Schefter

Remember we were finalists with alot of USC'S top recruits so watch out. I think the staff will close on them.

This should really open things up for recruits from southern California, and with our coaching staff's connections there, we could potentially benefit tremendously. We were already in the mix for a number of players out there.

It's also nice that Carroll is also trying to get the USC offensive coordinator to follow him to the Seahawks. That would leave them without their head coach, their offensive coordinator, their best running back (who declared for the NFL draft yesterday) and one of if not their best wide receiver (who also declared for the NFL draft). On top of that, they're likely to see NCAA sanctions against the school. If you were a top recruit, why the hell would you choose to go there?

With Carroll's departure now seemingly out of the way, the focus will shift to the bastion of Trojans football's replacement.

Per various reports, Oregon State head coach Mike Riley seems to be the leader in the clubhouse. Other candidates could include Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh, current Washington coach and former USC assistant Steve Sarkisian, and a pair of current NFL head coaches -- Jeff Fisher of the Tennessee Titans and Jack Del Rio of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jeff Fisher??? That would be odd.

This rivals article that got posted last night basically says that many of the 5-star commitments to USC, including Dillon Baxter, Kyle Prater, and Robert Woods are all pretty much blind-sided by this news. The USC coaching staff apparently won't talk to them to let them know what is going on. Meanwhile, their phones are ringing off the hook from other coaching staffs. These guys all pretty much seem to be saying that Carroll is the reason they are committed to USC.

Okay. I missed this my first time through the article. Prater was supposed to be flying to Los Angeles after the game in San Antonio tonight, and he was going to start classes at USC on Monday. How that plays out should be interesting.
