If Stokes Enrolls Next Semester....

Not true in the case of the University of Memphis, no residency requirement.

I think the prospect of enrolling early hurts Kentucky and Ark. which would be out of state schools for Stokes and would complicate things when trying to get an academic scholarship.

I'm also still not sold on the impact he would have this season. He's still a HS'er for the most part, and hasn't practiced with the team nor started a college conditioning program.

Also, to the guy that said he's going to Kentucky, get with it. He may go to UT or Arkansas in stead of Memphis, but he's not going to UK. He's a Memphian and he wants to be able to come back and visit the city in the future. UK has also not offered, I believe.

Something I didn't think about. Both Frank and Cuonzo will wear his ass down.

Memphis and UK do not have an available scholarship for him. The Commercial Appeal says he would have to try to qualify for an academic scholarship at Memphis that would cover tuition but seems to imply that it would not cover room and board. I don't know if this is an issue or not. It couldn't hurt our chances since we do have a scholarship ready and waiting on him.

After Tn finishes at the bottom of the SEC this year. He will enroll at ut when pigs fly.

I came late to this party, but HONESTLY, if Stokes does happen to come to Tennessee and START(not saying it would happen, but probabaly), how will that affect the PLAYERS who have busted their balls for our coach during the pre-season, etc...

What players would HURT the most??

Is CCM a fan favorite? Or a players coach?

CCM will play the players that give Tennessee the best chance to win... that's his job.

Again, why is this fun? Why not try to legitimately contribute to the forum or just leave?

He is just trolling, he isn't even subtle about it either which makes him a bad troll on top of it all. He was the first person on this forum that I have ignored and that is saying something.

obvious troll is obvious

Bringing in a high school player at mid-term, especially a highly-rated recruit, is a tricky situation for any team.

You've got a group of guys who've worked all summer, fall training camp and every day during the season. Then you drop in a guy who hasn't gone through any of that and doesn't have much of a bond with his teammates, but expects to play and contribute because he's never really struggled on a basketball court.

It could help a team, or it could help a team implode. Could go either way, really.

Outside of a few super-elite players, I'd be skeptical of anybody being a helpful college basketball player coming in at semester out of high school. Game is faster, more physical, etc., and there's no foundation of practice time to help the adjustment. And it would happen right as the team goes into conference play where games are more important and more intense.

Unless the player understood he'd strictly be used for mop-up minutes and would have to use the year to get better in practice, then I'm not sure I'd encourage it. But, of course, highly-rated recruits don't think of themselves as mop-up players. They all think they're one-and-done, which Stokes most definitely is not.

What about bringing him in as a red-shirt for this season and giving him the remainder of the season to practice with the team and get ready for next season?

Just a thought, but he could go for the "sure thing" with us, or try to go the academic route which is more of a gamble. (I don't know anything about his grades or anything). It would have to help our chances in my mind.

How hard can it be to get an "academic scholarship" at Memphis when you are an incoming basketball player?

I doubt that interests him. I think he wants to play immediately.
