If we go 9-3

Don't focus on the record, everything is on schedule and working. Stadium is full, top recruits are coming to have a look, there is optimism everywhere, we are in the daily conversation and the outcomes of the games are not clear. The record will take care of itself. In todays world you either make the playoffs or you don't, bowl games are meaningless.

What do you mean how do we keep Heupel?
How else, genius!?
You pay him more than what somebody else thinks he's worth.

2) Non-existent? They have caused turnovers in all 5 games this year. The DBs!!

You don't know s#!+
It was a rhetorical question! Go back to school!

It’s easy to say we should be happy with 9-3. But I refuse that logic. It is so rare to have a spectacular quarterback that has been in your system for a couple of years. That is what we have right now combined with an offensive system many of our rivals haven’t spent a lot of time trying to learn and defend yet. I think this coaching staff and team has their sights set a whole lot higher than 9-3 and has a fan… So are mine. We are the better team than Alabama right now and they are coming to our house. I will be incredibly disappointed if we don’t win. As for all other remaining opponents (not named Georgia) we absolutely should beat them.
This team has the potential to be absolutely legendary. And a 9-3 season won’t leave us feeling that way. This could be the same type year for us it was for LSU with Joe Burrow.

The offense isn’t difficult or hard to scheme for. What it does though, is put a ton of REAL pressure on DBs in space. These SEC coaches know how to scheme up defensively, but as of now, our WR are winning the 1 on 1 battles which is pulling away a LB and allowing for big running plays as well.

I'm all in on CJH but finishing at 9-3 at this point would be a little bit of a bummer. Means we dropped one we definitely shouldn't but alas I think we've got the best guy at the helm since Kiffin.

It is horrible actually! Look at the numbers! We are almost at the bottom of the barrel in all of CFB.

#11 in rushing defense
#22 in scoring defense - 17.8 points per game <---- This is the defensive stat that matters most.
#32 in 3rd down defense

Our front 7 is a strength of this defense (not an elite front seven but good), our secondary is weak. They are playing a style of defense to let opposing teams take short completions and we are trying to make them drive the entire field with the hopes of them making a mistake or the field getting shorter allowing us to play coverage easier. They are trying to keep everything in front of them, not allowing big plays. It is actually a smart game plan based on our weakness, the downside is you are going to give up a ton of passing yards. I think our coaches are ok with this knowing our offense can score at will.

Also with our offense scoring 47 points per game opposing teams have had to throw to try to keep up, hence the skew between passing yds and rushing yds. Near last in passing defense but close to top ten rushing defense. A lot of LSU's passing yards came after we were up in the 3rd qtr and the game was essentially over.

Our D will cost us a game or two this year because of this weakness. LSU and Florida couldn't take advantage of it but a Bryce Young led AL team can.

Beginning of the year I predicted 8-4 or 9-3 with L's to FL, LSU, AL and GA. Kentucky could give us a good game but we seem to have their number for some reason. At this point in the season I believe 10-2 should now be the floor and 12-0 is the ceiling. As long as we stay relatively healthy down the stretch we should be favored in every game except this weekend and GA. We have the offense to compete with AL and GA not sure if the defensive strategy we've seen the last couple of weeks will hold up or not. This coaching staff seems a lot smarter than the last few we have had so maybe they can come up with a winning strategy against AL this weekend.

How many games has that cost us? Give up all the yards you want between the 20’s, just keep them out of the end zone. This recruiting class will help.

12-0 Wow. Unbelievable season
11-1 A tremendous and amazing season
10-2 What an absolute great season
9-3 A very good season

Any 4 of these would be fantastic considering where we were to start the 2021 season. All 4 are possible certainly. For me, I am happy with any 4 of these, but I sure do like the sound of 12-0 and that could happen if the chips fall in the right place. Let's just go play em one at a time and see what happens. No need to have any negative nellies if we do fall below 10-2. Love the Vols at 12-0 or 0-12.

Considering our over under was 7.5 it's hard to imagine not being happy with 9-3 as long as the 3rd L is not UK. We have 7 games left and will be favored in 5 of those.

Well, teams have to throw a lot more against us. They have to risk going for it on 4th downs more. They have more time of possession and plays because of our scheme. Obviously their passing stats are going to be inflated. We'll be doing well to get in the top50.

There are so many areas we have improved over last year. The main ones are we’re better at pressuring the QB, better at getting turnovers in big situations, better at short yardage plays on offense and better at clock management late in the half or the end of the game. Have we played perfectly? Of course not. No one has. We have things we absolutely can do better but the improvement in the team from 2020 to 2021 was crystal clear and so is the improvement from 2021 to 2022. I left one off. We’re clearly better at winning this year. We would’ve lost that Pitt game last year, maybe UF too.

We're better at quarterback and WR than even I thought imaginable when CJH took over a year and a half ago. The passing game - both short and deep - is so fearful to opponents it opens up the running game and the subsequent balance in offense. It's a beautiful thing.
