If we go 9-3

This is what will get you soooo disappoint with 10-2 or 9-3...easy to say that when you are 5-0. Stayed grounded year two with big upside coming. Got to get defense little more solid.

I was debating between 12-0 and 11-1 and decided to be conservative.

We are only 2 years from a 3 win season and people gonna be mad if we finish 9-3 and possibility of 10 with a bowl!? I thought 8 or 9 wins this year would be a great year, 5 games in now I think we have a legitimate shot at 10-2, 11-1 or 12-0. Injuries (or arrests) and the defensive secondary will determine the rest of the year. Down 2 starting DBs already.

You bleep holes better be happy. This program was a train wreck less then 18 months ago. CJH has us on the right path.
Thanks, dad. Anything else you wanna dictate to us? 9-3 is a letdown. The last decade shouldn't make us ignore going 4-3 down the stretch. That would be a disappointment.

It shouldn't make anyone want to "farh the coach."
But it should absolutely be a disappointment from where we are right now. Bleep that bleepity bleeper.

:)

Would I be pissed? No. But I won’t be happy. That means you dropped one you shouldn’t of. Period. It’s honestly a compliment to this staff. I expect them to handle business.

I agree and we are a better football team than we have seen since Fulmer roamed the sidelines. I guarantee someone wants him fired if we lose to UGa or Bama. There are real morons in this world.

9-3 nothing special with this roster
11-1 would be overachieving
10-2 was right from the start, now not sure

Sorry but I will be disappointed that UT lost to an inferior opponent.

I hope UT beats UGA, Bama, or both. But honestly, most of us thought those were reaches due to their talent advantages at this point. I can claim "victory" in that our hopes of winning are better than they were 4 months ago. UT has played that well. However who is left on the schedule that should beat UT barring some incredible rash of lost players? UK is very obviously the "best of the rest" and they're just not a very good football team. A loss to them would be EXTREMELY disappointing. Who else you got? Vandy? USCe? Mizzou? UTM?

Well 9-3 means we lose to Bama, Uga...not terrible at all and either UT Martin, Vandy, UK, Mizzou or USC Jr

A loss to the latter half would require quite the failure.

9-3... may not be all that acceptable

Before the season started did you “expect” Tennessee would beat Pitt, Florida, LSU, SC & Missouri (all of them)?

If no then why would 1 loss to 1 of those teams now……..not be acceptable?

Gotta give you credit. You seemed to have called it from the start.

Still think 10-2 is the reasonable call... 9-3 was reasonable before we learned what we now know about a few opponents. UGA and Bama still have more talent than UT. CJH has shown pretty consistently that he gives UT a coaching advantage most of the time. But Bama in particular is well coached also.

The problem is not about being happy. Two problems (1) How do we keep Heupel? (2) How do we improve a non-existent pass defense that is almost at the bottom of the barrel in all of college football?? Look at the numbers!

Good questions. I think $8 million buyout will have something to do with first question.
Second will be recruiting to improve talent.

All except for our pass defense which is one of the worst in CFB.
Was listening to some of the talking heads on Youtube. They made an interesting point about the pass D. While total yds are bad, yards/attempt is around 50 in the nation and 10th in the SEC with UF skewing that number pretty heavily.... otherwise UT is in that 4-7 range in the SEC. UT is forcing teams to throw.

IMHO, the pass D was much better vs LSU for a particular reason. They played more aggressive. LSU completed passes but the windows were much tighter. UT got a lot of pressure and 5 sacks. The sacks likely contributed to the better DB results but there were situations where the pass rush was helped by coverage.

They're not there but I think they looked better vs LSU. I believe it is more the DC than players.

At first I was thinking that the SC game will be a trap game for them being in Columbia. BUT after seeing how CJH had the team laser focus going into Death Valley I think we are good.
Never, it’s South Carolina. They are at the bottom of the heap with Vandy and Missouri

The way Beamer celebrated the UK win makes me think his ceiling is pretty low. Wondering if they didn't make a Dooley hire hoping that son will somehow be as good as dad.

Frankly, beat Bama and any team should have there sights set on making a playoff run.......and that would be true of an other team in the league.

UK is ranked in the Top 25 still. Our common opponent is Florida, and they beat them by more and on the road. The slipped up a bit against South Carolina, but also without their starting QB. That's not a gimmee.

We should beat USC and Mizzou and will almost certainly be favored. But the favored team doesn't always win, even if it's also the better team. Georgia nearly found that out against Mizzou. South Carolina has a future NFL QB throwing the ball. If he has a great day and Hooker has an off one like the Purdue game..... who knows?

That said, I probably couldn't help feeling a little bit disappointed if we do lose 3 games at this point. At the start of the season I'd have been f'n overjoyed if you told me 9-3, but after the LSU beatdown, my expectations have been reset too.

Recruiting is how you do it and defensive help is on the way.

I'm absolutely fine with 9-3. But I honestly think we upset either Bama or UGA. And I think UGA is more likely because, despite the talent gap, I still don't think Kirby Smart is all that good of an in game coach.
