It shows what kind of QBs our program has (altho it's possible someone turns out the real deal) and that

SPEAKS VOLUME.

I don't think we have to debate anything about about the coaching staff right now.

if Worey starts... I have to qustion the guts of this staff after all of those 4th and 1s last week that we didn't even try to run a QB sneek...just saying...i don't have blind loyalty to anyone anymore after the Dooley fiasco

Speaks volumes about our talent at QB. The coach is not going to put in a QB who will do any worse.

All those? How many were there?

Can't do much worse. My question is, what's there to lose by trying another guy? Never know if you dont put them into a game.

While I agree with your point, if CBJ had put anyone else in the game who proved nothing in practice, there would be a higher chance of a couple picks -possibly pick 6s- in the 1st half and things would have been serious ugly (yes it could've been worse).

Baptism by fire doesn't work for every player at a position like quarterback, either.

Some it actually hinders some of the younger ones later on in their careers...

...sometimes a staff has to know or have a feel for the guy they're dealing with first (and/or stick to a plan) rather than - not quite desperately - throw everything at the wall and see what sticks

That all aside, there's also the matter of things like wouldn't they already be performing better in practice if they were really/ so definitively the better option, wouldn't there be signs they were already mature enough / ready enough to start, etc.

If Worley starts, then it means the others have not done what is necessary to win the job from him.

Pretty sure that was OP's point.

If no one on this roster could beat out Worley in the off-season/show enough during practices this week to get the job, we've got some serious problems at QB. Guess we'll see.

So you did have blind faith in Dooley.

Says a ton.

Because two true freshman aren't ready to start in the Swamp in game four of their careers?

coaches make mistakes all the time even great coaches....you can bet mony Dobbs and Fergy have shown flashes of great talent thus far but Buch is hesitant because of them being true freshman while Worely at least isn't prone to huge mistakes...however, Worely results in not moving the chains and consecutive 3 and outs..while the true freshman might be able to make big plays here and there but be more prone to the big mistake..pick your poison...if it were me, i would at least pick the QB that gives us an actual chance to move the ball.....he might make some big mistakes, but hey, at least we will have really tried and at least he will hae gotten valuable experience and 1st team practice reps from now on....with Worely, we all know what will happen....NOTHING...and for those saying oh th Oregon score could have been much worse..who cares??? what is the difference between losing 100 to 14 compared to 59-14? both are massive slaughters...i would like to at least lose while trying my best and preparing for the future...Worley is one big dead end any way you look at it...

If no body beat Worley out it doesn't mean we're doomed at QB I mean we do have 2 true freshman I mean it's not often that true freshman are better than somebody with experience not saying they won't be better in time so if he starts doesn't mean that were doomed at QB

I'm just pointing out the lack of quality talent. I'm not saying one day one of the 3 freshmen won't make a really solid QB but I see freshman start in tough games and I see potential. I've seen a lot of freshmen look a lot better than Worley.

Just saying there's cause for concern.

If Worley starts, it's hard to feel confident about our offense tomorrow. The play book is simply 1 dimensional when he's under center. Hope he proves me wrong, but I just don't see how we have any chance tomorrow with him at QB.

Exactly!!! I have seen so many true fresman QBs that are so much better than Worely is...if Fergy is a legit talent, than Butch should just give him the nod by default....so far Butch strikes me as way too conservative...hope he proves me wrong..

Basically it just goes to show how far we've fallen in the talent department and that should end the debate on "why we suck" "is Jones the guy" until AT LEAST NEXT YEAR. No more debate if Worley starts and finishes it shoud sum it up.

How many 4th and 1s and how many 4th downs in our own territory? I thought Butch was just trying to flip the field and make them go 75 yds rather than 35 yds to score.

Just to be fair here, I think losing three slot receivers had an impact on the game plan and performance against Oregon.

I feel like I'm coming across like a huge Worley homer, and I'm really not. But based in everything I've heard and read I just think he is still the logical choice to start tomorrow.
