If you’re Bama, you firing Oats?

In reality, Barnes did a great job this year. This team wasn't very good. We were a lot better last year and flopped against Michigan. The year that Barnes should have made FF was that last year with Grant Williams. Schofield got very inconsistent and it cost us against Purdue and almost against Iowa
Grant started barking at the refs at the end of that season as well. Drove me crazy. May have influenced that foul call at the end.

Plenty of people have called for his firing, but because of off the court stuff.

Im not sure you guys really want to do this comparison. Guys been a head coach for 8 years and has 5 regular season conference championships, 4 conference tournament championships, 3 coach of the year awards, a better winning percentage and is 20 years younger. He choked in the big dance, but so did a whole bunch of teams this year. And the biggest difference between him and Barnes choking is that Barnes has a much longer history of choking.

He doesn't have the longevity of Barnes, and he clearly doesn't run a stable, trouble free program, and he should've been fired for his handling of all the stuff that happened this year, but he has done a lot in his first 8 years on the court.

IMO, Oats is a really good coach and has comprised a great staff. Also IMO, he had the best players in the SEC and maybe the nation. Although Barnes beat him head to head this year without two 5 stars JJJ & Julian, and with just an 8 player rotation (hmmmm.....) Difference IMO is Barnes recruits well but recruits very high character students whereas, Oats will recruit any top player darn the torpedo's from the off court issues or grades issues they feel they can fix or live with those. Time will tell if he turns out to be a Hall of Fame coach or ends up on a show cause.
That brings up another subject has any coach got in the hall of Fame with high violations or show cause. I know Wooden is but not sure if they ever tied him to Car tycoon that was giving UCLA players new cars, during their unprecedent multiple title runs.. Also, think Bruce may work his way to be considered even with his sordid past.

I agree with pretty much all of this. I'm just tired of people using this argument to defend Barnes. Every time another good coach loses a game somebody posts a thread asking sHoUlD hE bE FiReD? And this isn't the first time they've done it with a much younger, very accomplished coach.

Oats seems to be a good coach. Still unproven. Tennessee beat his ass last year and it was not even close. He in no way strikes fear in my heart. I would have like Tennessee’s chances in a rematch on a neutral floor, even without ZZ. WithZZ it would have been another whipping.

Maybe, but it doesn't change his accomplishments this early in his career.
