If you aren't excited about where this program is going

Why you excited? All this rah rah chat getting to you? Why not wait and get excited once Butch proves he can win in the SEC. Here's a news flash for you...Bama and Florida fans are excited too....

Don't get me wrong, I love his optimism. However, if it wasn't for the fact of back-to-back fools running our football programs in the ground - we would feel better about Butch.

Butch has something that Lane and Dooley didn't have, and that was personality and passion for what UT stands for. In my opinion, those are the very attributes that I want a person to do leading the team, culture, and vision that I love about UT.

Thus, I will stand behind Butch and continue to support the program that I love. I just hope that what he does related to on the field, in addition to restoring the greatest college football team back to it's reign of success, which it righfully belongs.

Not trying to be a downer, but wasn't it supposed to be a given that Butch was a good recruiter? In-game coaching was his big problem at Cincy, I support CBJ 100% and am pleased with what he's done. But let's try to calm down, and wait and see how things go in the ACTUAL season. With that said GO COACH JONES AND GO BIG ORANGE!

In-game coaching was his problem? How'd you come up with that?

If anything, it seems like the expectation around here was the opposite. Coaching was solid, but recruiting was suspect. And obviously, he's knocked it out of the park with the latter.

20-6 over the last two seasons makes me question the logic here.

Top recruiting classes with poor W-L records would suggest strong ability to recruit with poor in-game management.

Sorry, i should have clarified. By in-game coaching, i'm referring to his in-game philosophy and how it will transfer to the SEC game (especially on the offensive side).

Well you are because he had zero top 50 recruiting classes at Cincy and was 20-6! He is a great answer to our problems both short term and long term!

:good!:

What do you want us Vol fans to do, sit around and whine about the last 5 yrs & moan that we'll never be good again? If you're a Vol fan either get on board or get outta the way...don't be jumping on the bandwagon in 2-3 yrs when we put teams back in their place, which is behind us!

No it was not. All I read on here when he was hired was that he COULDN'T recruit in the SEC... with the big boys... cause he came from the lowly BIG EAST. Plenty of guys on here referenced his 50s recruiting class rankings at Cincy, so no, he was not expected to recruit anywhere near this level, certainly not this early.

You got it exactly ass backwards... In game coaching, as demonstrated by his .650 win % was supposed to be his strength, given his low recruiting class rankings. There was even an article about how he won 1-2 more games per year than was expected/projected.

And yes, we all know that eventually wins are the only things that matter. But I'm sick of guys saying I can't be a fan and appreciate what he's doing and how he's going about doing it. Promise I can balance the excitement with the expectations.

Do you care to explain? Help me understand the NFL talent Cincy has produced under Jones' staff... please

My biggest question with Butch Jones has always been the recruiting. And, while there are alot of good signs at the moment, I'll wait until signing day before I declare this class a winner. Let's not forget, we did finish 11th in the SEC and behind Vanderbilt two months ago.

all this talk about the QBs having a bad spring -- being thin at RB -- Croom injured already --- and of course Palardy is back. Dooley was a clown but I sure wish Hunter and CP were coming back at this point :ermm:
