Plus being Top 10 with the Long Snapper is going to be hard to obtain period.
Not going by the composite. Each player, from top to bottom, is worth less and less in the team score. So once we have 25 players, the difference between a 75 Albright and an 86 guy is a mere .35 points (out of 270+). He will have essentially 0 negative impact compared to any other lowest rated guy in our class.
Your top ~20 guys is where a huge bulk of your ranking comes from.
This is so wrong on so many levels... the most mentally and top 3 in physicality taxing positions... all the really good defensive coaches understand that and that is why they are trying to get more of them on the field.
Yup. The gap from ~9th to ~13th is usually very meaningless, about 10 points out of 270+... and the average recruit is close. What is the difference in the 9th ranked class and the 13th ranked class? In one thread, everyone complains about how these recruiting sites rank the players based on 40 times and 7 on 7. Then, the same people act like where we land based on those same recruiting rankings will dictate how many games we win. That makes no sense.
I agree with you whole heartedly. However if you think safeties are a dime a dozen your are very wrong. Especially with the defense we run now... for this defense to work you HAVE TO hit on safeties and you better not miss. There is too much IQ and physical tools needed. In a regular snap you will have six DB’s on the field (one being your best cover LB)... safties have to know run fits, set the fronts, determine strength, make backend calls, make calls based on WR splits and more... also you are covering the most ground with TE’s that usually outsize you... I love safties... I use to be one and think they are the most misunderstood and under appreciated groups in viewers eyes they stop a lot of plays people never see and get run out the stadium because they miss an assignment that becomes a touchdown... safties can’t screw up because of they do it is usually a big gain or six points...Did you watch the NFL Draft? Were offensive and defensive lineman going first or safeties? I will help you out. Lineman went first. The game is won in the trenches.
I think we're decent at safety.
In 2020:
Flowers JR
MCullogh SO
Jackson JR(RS)
Fields FR (RS)
Lawrence FR
Beasely, Gray, and Williamson can factor into that as well.
Still hope we can get Johnson back in the fold.

I’m not trying to “come at you” lol probably too much off soapbox... safeties have a special place in my heart hence the avatar.
