No...I wanted to keep him. Knew that was why the staff kept offering DB’s...against this board’s wishes. Next! December’s hours away and February is mere days! God hasn’t invented flips and/or All-America game commits to ease our suffering yet!Anyone else completely indifferent to losing this dude? His commitment was entirely to bring in other schools interest & with KL jumping in the boat id rather have this slot for someone else anyway.
In modern CFB, there comes a point in time in every new coaching regime (at least in rebuild situations) where hope alone won't sustain recruiting momentum, it's got to be coupled with evidence that a transformation is occurring. If we show improvement this year, i.e., win another game or two and at least don't get blown out by anyone who doesn't end up in the playoffs, we'll finish recruiting this year at least as well as we did last year.I think it’s clear that we are struggling a bit. Hate to say it, but it seems true. I know, I know. “Kids want to see the season first” supposedly
Yep, the commit was too easy and I took the continuous offers as the staff felt the same. They may be staying on him but definitely don't believe they were surprised.No...I wanted to keep him. he committed to get more eyes on him. it worked. i doubt we'll be a consideration at this point. the OL is a bigger priority. This kid committed on the spot when offered without taking time to evaluate. If he was a life long Vol fan.. I could see it. I would rather him decommit now than to come to UT and wishing he hadn't.
He runs a 5.15 second 40. Not fast for a safety I don’t think?I am going to be honest, I thought he got an offer because of his relationship with his team mate, I am sure he is a good player......it was the first thing that came to my head. Recruits will come and go, but the Vols will be forever! I am thinking we are going to pickup a big fish and CJP was making room, who would decommit from one of the best defensive coaches in the country?............there's a story there.
Went 5-7 last season, still signed top 12 class AFTER the fact. So yes, I fully expect to sign at least in that range but, I also expect to win more than 6 this season.Did anyone really believe we’d be recruiting at an elite level coming off another losing season?
Pruitt will get his fair share but he walked into a mess.
Until he starts putting together winning seasons, coaches will more than likely be able to sway recruits from us.
Thanks Butch.
