'20 IL S Antonio Johnson

No worries...I was just saying I am not going to lose sleep over losing a person at that position. I know the “Eric Berry’s” which come along ever so often are game changers. I just think it’s a position that there a lot of athletic players out there Pruitt/Ansley can coach up. Big uglies on the other hand are more rare and you have a much smaller supply you can work with.
I understand what you are saying but remember just because you can run a 4.4 doesn’t mean you can play safety. The combo is what takes a seamingly large number of guys and makes that number ALOT smaller than you think... it’s really comparing apples to apples though.

Everyone was ready to hang a banner yesterday when we had a 4 star WR commit that everyone knew was gonna happen, now we lose another 4 star that was never fully committed and it’s the end of the world. This fan base has serious consistency issues. BVS has broke all of you.

Oh and one more thing, perception is so irrelevant it’s not even worth trying to make a case on why it matters. Texas just won the sugar bowl and is barely top 25 in recruiting. You think they care? No, because they know they’ll be top 10 by signing day. It’s no different for us. Same thing with USC and Nebraska. Both will be top 20-25 by signing day. Both are around 60 something. Iowa is in the top 25 but they have 22 commits already. It’s all about who has more commits around this time of year

We can keep going back and forth but I am just echoing what NFL scouts say. I see a lot of lineman going in the first round but don’t see many safeties or nickels.

The meltdown over the perceived meltdown is way better. 😂

Yep...and you still have people on this board saying “they just weren’t developed” 🙄
Those young men are our Vols. They ran through the T - they may not have all been elite for whatever reason, but they were, and some still are, our Vols. Let the bad guys put them down. I never will.

We've been struggling, been behind on getting the bigger targets to jump on board for a couple of months. So in other words, nothing's changed. And not likely to unless we give them a reason.
We need to football and do it really well.

P.s. I'm really starting to dislike Fisher, dude has a hard on for TN targets.
Maybe next time we will think about the long game and pony up big money for a championship winning head coach who comes with instant credibility on the recruiting trail?

Did you watch the NFL Draft? Were offensive and defensive lineman going first or safeties? I will help you out. Lineman went first. The game is won in the trenches.
It's my understanding that the staff is trying to get us back to a 3-man front, something we abandoned in the Majors era because we we couldn't get enough 2-gap linemen. If we're really going to play with 3 DL we have to have elite (big, fast, hard hitting) DBs and lots of them. NFL tackle and Edge Rusher are rare and will always go first.

This kid was 100% never committed. Right after he announced his commitment, he said he wanted to visit other schools and see what else was out there, then he'd make the decision that was right for him. Now we can stop wondering when he's going to decommit and fill his spot with someone who actually wants to be part of this class. DB is the last position we need to worry about.

Anyone else completely indifferent to losing this dude? His commitment was entirely to bring in other schools interest & with KL jumping in the boat id rather have this slot for someone else anyway.
I'm meh with it but, I really want to keep Spraggins in this class. Not sure if they are tied at the hip or not.

Not sure where Lawrence ends up (can be a Corner or Safety) in the line up, but, he is the reason losing (if he eventually signs elsewhere) Johnson doesn't hurt. Better to have them both, but, if I had to pick between the 2 I want Lawrence.

If this is how the board reacts to this decommitment, how will this board react when we lose to Bama by multiple TDs this fall??
About the same, which is next to nothing.
Let's be honest:
First, no one was surprised.

3 eventually came to bathe in negative news. (Normal)

2, Bass and Gucc, show displeasure but nothing major.

Most just discussing it, that's all.

And the rest upset because.. the above weren't treating it like good news.

And some may or may not have had an aneurysm.
So yeah, about the same. 😃
