good post is a good post.Pruitt’s resume when hired by Tennessee was as good as or better than:
Mark Richt when Georgia hired him.
Kirby Smart when Georgia hired him.
Dan Mullen when MSU hired him.
Bob Stoops when Oklahoma hired him.
Dabo Swinney when Clemson hired him.
Jimbo Fisher when FSU hired him.
Pruitt was a multiple-NC winning coordinator who had been successful at (and coordinated NC defenses at) multiple stops. Realistically, that has historically been a winning formula as a hire...even at blueblood programs. In fact, none of the guys on that list did it at more than one program.
Great post. Hell, Dabo was the WR coach at Clemson before becoming interim HC, winning a few games to finish that season and then got the gig full-time. And Clemson had great patience with him and gave him a long time to build that program. He would have been fired at most SEC schools after his first 3-4 years, but in reality he never would have been hired to begin with.Pruitt’s resume when hired by Tennessee was as good as or better than:

Yes....to all of the aboveGreat post. Hell, Dabo was the WR coach at Clemson before becoming interim HC, winning a few games to finish that season and then got the gig full-time. This idea that UT can "back up the brinks truck" and hire whoever isn't real. A&M did it with Jimbo, yes, but it took $75mil guaranteed and it wasn't a massive rebuild like at UT. What examples do we have of big time winning HC's leaving their Power 5 job for a massive rebuild?
Truth is, Fulmer hired the best possible coordinator out there, has equipped him with all the staff and resources he needs to rebuild and compete for championships. It was always going to take a few years to get there. Season two begins in a month and I'm betting we see massive on field improvements and at least 2-3 more wins than year one. And if that happens recruiting will get much easier and we'll be competing for the SEC for many years to come. Big fall coming up for this program, the fans, Fulmer, Pruitt and everyone involved. It's very exciting. Can't wait!
pretty much agree. i'm hopeful as well.Great post. Hell, Dabo was the WR coach at Clemson before becoming interim HC, winning a few games to finish that season and then got the gig full-time. Great point. As Pruitt said at SEC Media Days, "We have an army of people behind the scenes". He has enormous support from Fulmer and UT to get the program back to elite. No excuses this time but it's going to take time. All this worrying about the 2020 class in July is such a waste of time. Win 7+ this fall and these big time recruits are going to jump in the boat. Miss a bowl or win only 6 and it'll be just as tough or tougher next year. I'm very optimistic that we win 7 or more. I think it's more likely we win 9 than 6. We'll find out soon...pretty much agree. i'm hopeful as well.
but i think the biggest thing about where we are now, vs where we've been is the investments we've made in the people running this thing. from the on field staff, to the off field analysts/QC........the single biggest thing that's behind my optimism is that we're no longer penny pinching, and putting the money where it should be......in to the people running the day to day.
if pruitt fails, it won't be because we stood by and told him to do more with less. you need it coach? you got it.
it's going to take a little longer than anyone wants it to. but i'll just say it again, let's get to the end of year four and see what it looks like....i have a feeling it's not going to look bad.

i've already been on record about not freaking out over him decommitting.
but i am really sick of Jimbo Fisher and his band of misfit yellers.
they need to get their hands out of our cookie jar. we got enough to contend with out here with Clemson, Bama, Georgia, USCe, FSU, Florida etc.........i thought TX had more football talent than the rest of the country? that the in state talent was this huge advantage for them, and why aTm was such a better job than err'body else?
jeez/
I get it, but one would think based off of air raid, there would be just as many good secondary players available for defense. While Texas is loaded with talent, the style of football (up tempo/air raid) does not lend itself to superior talent in some areas. As such, Jimbo has made it a point to go out of state for areas of need...particularly on the defensive side of the ball.

Jimbo has 3 of the top 15 kids in Texas committed to A&M in 2020 and had 6 of the top 15 for 2019's class. LMAO he is not even remotely getting his tail whipped there.Jimbo recruiting Tennessee means he is getting his tail wiped in talent rich Texas by a rejuvenated Longhorn program. I would say LSU is putting a crunch on him too.
