I thought this quote by AP on Saturday was pretty telling. It was the AP way of letting everyone down easy. He gone.

"I believe that Carnell has always wanted OSU from a football perspective. If they got close in other areas then they would be tough to beat. Again sometimes it’s not just go pay the kid more…the kid has to have a want to come to a school."

Agree. Still don’t think anyone knows for sure outside of a few ppl. Definitely would lean towards OSU getting him now. Even if he commits to Tennessee I’m over this recruitment at this point, just pick a place and commit there.

Guys the most important factor in all of this is who wants to be here ? I am of the opinion that to be highly successful you have to love your surroundings. You have to be invested. Not only in yourself but the others around you. Your team, community and school. If Tate isn't all in, then it's probably best he goes to OSU or ND if thats where his heart is. We know he has the talent to produce and in the event UT isn't a fit for him, I say goodluck to him and we will be ok.

At least it ends today and we can move on to others on our board. Glad it will finally be over with Tate.

Yep. He’s always wanted OSU. Parents wanted UT. The fight and comments make sense when you look at it that way.

At the end of the day it comes down to you either want to build something to be great or you want to just be sure your on something already great, nowadays most people (kids included) will take the easier route.

I don’t blame a young man for wanting the attention. But is Tate “playing” someone ? Or is the media playing all of us ? I don’t know. I blame the media, social media, etc., more than Tate at this point. Whether we get him or not, I’m not a fan of shenanigans. Keeping a secret about where you will commit is FINE … playing a tease is nonsense.

There is always going to be excitement around any 5 stars we have a chance to sign but this position group is by far the least exciting to get a 5 star. This staff is going to be cranking out elite all conference receivers no matter the HS ranking.

Trenches, linebackers and quarterbacks are where I’m much more excited to get the top end recruits.

If this kid chooses Tennessee then that’s neat but if we start splashing on DL, OL, LB 5 stars then the sky is the limit.

So what we sticking with? Y’all think AP was letting us down easy or we sticking with him being a Vol? Really think Tate is one of those players that will help speed the process but receivers will come. GBO

I go back to a week ago AP said Carnell wanted to misdirect everyone and have people not expecting where he goes. He also said if he commits in June/soon it is good for us.
I’m hoping everything since then has been that scripted misdirection and he is a Vol. Going to stay with that belief but not allow myself to be completely devastated if I’m reading it wrong.
Vol till he ain’t! GBO!

That being said, if his highlights were put next to several others, without knowing who was who, his wouldn’t jump off the page anymore than anyone else’s. Top WR talent is everywhere. Without a QB to get them the ball, they all suck. A good/great QB can make anyone look the part. Let’s hope Nico or TJ is that guy in the next few years.

Absolutely correct. There are far more outstanding WR’s than any position in the college game.

CJH put his offense into motion with our backup QB in the 2nd or 3rd game of the '22 season with a WR group that wasn't really all that highly regarded and what happened?

Offense executed once HH was promoted and the '22 season was one for the record books in several categories.

Having highly sought after recruits choose our program will help get us to the top quicker.

However, after last year my confidence is in the offensive scheme and guy at the helm - the rest will continue to build and additional success will occur.

Go Vols !!
