I'll take our 2014 receivers over the 2012 receivers

Go back and watch the drops. The first comment you'll hear from the announcers is that he was WIDE OPEN. Separation isn't the problem. It's been making the catch.

He's wide open from busted coverage. He's been playing in the slot isn't out running or jumping anyone. He's going to play behind LP, Croom, and Vic. He isn't SEC talent and wouldn't see the field at no other SEC besides Kentucky. Heck he wouldn't get an offer from any elite SEC program

Plus, the 2014 passing game should be helped in some degree by the fact that our QB could be of some threat to run.

This was not the case in 2012 at all.

Yeah..... Great logic...Those averge receivers were top 34 picks in the 2013 NFL draft. The short school bus will pick you up early tomorrow.

I saw several times he was open where it clearly wasn't a busted coverage. His SPARQ score was outstanding and he had other SEC offers late (Ole Miss) and an Ohio State offer. You act like he's Blanc or Carter and that's just not close to being the case.

Did he bang your girl or something? The dude had some critical drops, but to say he got open only because of busted coverage is ridiculous. He COULD be a great slot guy. Only time will tell. No need for all the hateful bashin man.

I thought at first this was one of those "We'll have so many weapons at receiver, there's no way a defense will be able to cover them all!" threads.

(because if they try to cover one more, they'll just get burned by another, etc, etc)

Saw quite a few of those back before 2012.

Isn't that what happened?

Not doubting the usual dorky threads. But that group did actually do some serious damage to SEC Ds in 2012. Anything resembling a defense and Dools is still here IMO.

Thats probably true.

Heck just a good, not great but good, defense and we would've been contending for the SEC.

North
Pearson
Malone/Croom/Pig

over

Hunter
Cordarelle
White Lightning

Let's just hope one of these QBs can get the ball in the general direction

If it is a close race at the q.b. position, I think Butch will go in favor of the senior and WorleyBird will win out. Someone needs to put some real seperation between themselves and the other q.b.'s.

North has already shown to be a better WR than Hunter or CP. We will have to see how Pearson does. So this thread is not that far fetched.

I don't think he's shown he is better... yet.

I would be disappointed if he wasn't better this year.

Hunter was a great receiver, but never lived up to expectations after injury IMO. I think many of our fans remember the Hunter they hoped for, not the Hunter they got.

Why don't you wait and see how the 2014 receivers do on the field. IMO we could have either group and still suck - right now we have no proven QB. I really hope it starts to come together for these guys this season, we desperately need a bowl win.

Heh heh heh heh heh. tain't so. He might be but it isn't evident yet. When we put a better performing QB on the field this season, and we will, might be a case to be made. But not today it isn't. Uh-uh.

THIS! It's much more common to make spectacular plays in practice. Media is over hyping him and over hyping Hurd getting disciplined for pad level.

When was the last time we saw spectacular play videos from a UT Practice?

Von has put up the two most memorable since when?

I think if it's close you go with the younger, more talented guy, which either Dobbs or Fergy surely is ... Bigger upside.

Also, I think he has to not only factor in this year but next year as well. If it's close early, you have to believe that the more talented guy gives you more opportunity to win down the line. He also is gonna want an experienced QB heading into what will be a critical year 3 in his tenure.

If Worley doesn't clearly separate himself, which I don't think he will, you have to go with the younger guy IMO.
