Exactly. How many root for Bama and Georgia to have top recruiting classes just to make the SEC stronger.I don't understand why our "fans" make post rooting for our main rivals to win championships as if that helps the Vols. I doubt UGA or Bama fans were sitting around rooting for the Vols to win out of some SEC loyalty. That's like rooting for your wife to cheat with your brother because it's family.
I may be the odd man out around here, but I'm pullinh for the Dawgs! I'm hoping UGA and UM meet in the championship game and Georgia wins a tight one. I like close, exciting games, especially between blue-blood programs. And I root for UT first, then the SEC East second, then the SEC third. I don't want anyone claiming that Tennessee is in a weak conference or that they play a soft schedule. I like it when Tennessee beats strong teams like Florida or LSU. It means nothing to me when UT beats Akron or Wyoming. It also looks good when teams we play win out. If Georgia loses to OSU (God forbid) or UM, then the logical claim will be that OSU or UM could beat Tennessee. Nope, sorry. If Tennessee is going to lose to UGA in the regular season and get knocked out of championship contention, then I want UGA to win it all so that our loss to them doesn't look as bad.
It makes no sense to me when people root against other SEC teams when they're playing non-conference foes, especially in bowl games. I understand the recruiting edge we get when we win and other SEC teams lose, but I don't think that rationale holds much water; there are plenty of great players to go around. I also understand rooting for higher-ranked teams to lose so that we might get a bump up in the standings. But that probably won't happen with any of the top-4 teams, and nobody remembers the rankings anyway. They only remember the bowl wins and championships.
So I'll be pulling for Georgia this weekend. Go SEC!

Exactly!I will never pull for Ohio State or any other non conference team playing an SEC team. All I hear is it's about recruiting ........NEWS FLASH! Georgia, Bama and LSU will continue to get the recruits and will until we beat them consistently. Most good recruits will want to play for the strongest conference in the land so I prefer to have the national champion in the SEC.
I don't know, I still get goosebumps if I watch the reaction in Gainesville when news broke that we defeated Bama. That may have been the loudest cheer in the swamp all year.I don't understand why our "fans" make post rooting for our main rivals to win championships as if that helps the Vols. UT's main recruiting opposition is UGA and Bama. This is where games are won before they are ever player. I don't want Huepel to compete in the living room with a team with 2 NCS.
Clemson becoming winners years ago destroyed our recruiting. Why the hell would we want UGA winning and recruiting even better than they already are?
