I'm Sick and Tired!

I've put my reasons why I think this team will be good this year. I have stated that I think or know they underachieved last year. I do not think nor have I said CPF is the only coach to win a NC. You read reports and see the negatives and that is your option. I read the reports and see the players interviewed and see fire in their eyes. I think they know they underachieved and they are mad about it and I think a little embarrassed. CPF has taken responsibility so many times, he even went so far as to write a letter of apology to the fans for goodness sake. He has made staff changes and reports coming from practice are good. I think all the changes made by the staff and changes made in attitude by the players will result in a much better product on the field. I do not accept losing seasons at UT. As an Alumni, donor and fan I expect more. I just think we will see it this year. If we don't then changes can be made without me getting upset. I'm not a knee jerk reactionist. Even if we do lose the first game (I don't think we will but could). The season and program is what I am concerned with. I am all VOL always have and always will be.

Beef I just want to know if you went to a practice or a srimmage???

If you did I believe that you would have some reservations with how the offense will perform.

If you can actually figure out how to do that i want to invest. It'd make billions.

Sit beside me at a game! Maybe you have something. A fans guide to losing weight. But by the time you add up all the calories I take in from the beer, beef, sausage, bourbon, crawfish, etc. I won't lose much if any. :lolabove:

You gripe because you don't get information due to closed practice. You would gripe if the kids didn't answer and now you gripe because they do answer.

Wrong! Particularly after a season like last year, I would like to see the players not do any interviews whatsoever, and I would actually prefer if that was a policy that the team's leaders imposed on the team as opposed to the coaching staff. This team needs to have an attitude that they're going to work their butts off as a team, and do all of their talking through their play on the field. You guys that go nuts over every little quote that comes out crack me up.

Yes.

And I always have reservations as to how this team will do. Every year. After all, no matter how rabid we get these are still 18, 19 and 20 year old kids for the most part. Just like every other school.

Actually I'm pretty excited to see the Offense. I'm very anxious and that would be a more accurate description for me. Like I said, I know what they can do and I hope they put it together. If they do what I know they can, we will all be very happy.

Sure. Players not answering media question while at the same time CPF closed practice. Them not answering questions would go over about as good as a fart in church. I could hear the conspiracies now.

Oh and you want to see them do it on the field? Then why not let them get to the field before you bust on them? :)

Why not let them get to the field before you start heaping praise on them? :) Remember, their last performance ON THE FIELD was getting embarassed by Vanderbilt. They've yet to show anything on the field worthy of praise.

My praise is for what they have done in practice and I have faith. Apparently you don't. That's your call.

Wasn't Kentucky the last game of the year? They actually looked pretty good in that one.

I know... against Kentucky.

Yes.Also for what it's worth, Cutler is far out performing Young, as far as rookie Qb's in the NFL go.

Mea culpa. You're right. I'm still having a tough time with Vandy not being the last game of the season.

Cutler has looked really good so far. Leinart has looked extremely sharp for the Cardinals so far as well. Personally, I don't think that Young will ever amount to anything more than an average QB, and I think that both Cutler and Leinart will be far better than Young in the NFL over their careers. However, Cutler and Leinart both have a huge advantage over Young in the quality of the wide receiving corp that they have. The Cardinals' wide receiving corp is unbelievably good, and they added Leonard Pope from UGA at tight end this year too. The Cardinals have a lot of weapons on offense. They just need to get an offensive line worth a damn now.

RosenRosen is unable to respond right now. He's working on his second helping of Crow.

So, which of the following observations do you dispute?
How about all of them? :lolabove:

It sounds much worse than last year to me. I've heard about a piss poor offensive line that doesn't do a good job of run or pass blocking. I've heard about wide receivers dropping a lot of passes. Last year we never heard about the wide receivers dropping passes in practices and scrimmages. We heard nothing except how great our wide receivers were right up until the point that they proved to all of us that in an actual game they couldn't catch a cold. I've heard about a lack of depth on the defensive line. I've heard about Ainge continuing to look shaky in practices and scrimmages, yet still being the best option available. When you combine those things with an unproven group of linebackers and a secondary that all of you seem to think is great despite the fact that it's basically the same group (minus the best player) that got shredded by even some mediocre passing teams last year, I'm concerned.
Maybe you heard wrong? Or perhaps didn't want to hear anything positive?

Don't expect to hear back form 423 for awhile.

On boards in years past he has disapeared until the first loss, then magicly comes back from his "buisness trip".

He posted last night, don't remember which thread though.

That's right. It's in the thread about the Negavols spin on the game. Listen, I speak my mind. However, I'm also not afraid to stand up and admit when I'm wrong, and I won't avoid posting on the board just because I was wrong. If the Vols play the rest of the season as well as they played last night, then I will most definitely have been very wrong in my predictions.

I'm not trying to argue necessarily that your predictions were wrong. I don't know that they'll win another game though I suspect this boost of confidence will help.

What I would like to see is a graceful acknowledgement that the comments about UT having no talent and that talent couldn't be turned around in one offseason were absolutely untrue.

I argued that Cal was overrated before this game... now I find myself in the odd position of hoping I was wrong and the Vols have really come that far.

I'm not going to apologize for something that I never said. In another thread I just responded to a somewhat similar comment by you by saying that either you are attributing something that somebody else said to me (as there were other people actively involved in these threads), or you severely misinterpreted something that I posted because I have never argued that UT's team has no talent. I have argued that UT's team has been poorly coached and has not shown its talent on the field in live games.
