I saw the game and am a diehard Vol Fan even before'98. I hate Bama with the best of you, but . . .I respect Bryce young. He proved he's a man with his toe to toe passing and his ability to take hard hits. Yes, I hate the rest of the team but I would vote a tie between him and Hendon.
I was soooo close to giving your post a thumbs-up. Then you said that bit about voting for a tie between them.

I mean, there's showing due respect (and Young deserves a great deal), and then there's just being nuts. Don't be nuts! HH4H!

Go Vols!

BY is good but Hendon Hooker just jumped him if he hadn't already.

Talking about the Heisman?

Until it is anything more than a subjective beauty contest... I do not care. Hooker leads the undefeated UT Vols who have already embarrassed a lot of doubters. That... I care about.

I will always be a Vol fan but I also respect talent and fortitude. Bammers are for the most part goat chasing sister marriers but I admire the way Bryce brought his team back. He made amazing throws under pressure. I'm so happy the best story won but I wish no ill on Bryce Young.

Hey, I appreciate great players who compete at a high level! Most of my vitriol towards Bama is toward the fans, not the players (except To'oTo'o). I find it silly to hold personal grudges towards players who are just out there trying to play at the highest level they can and compete.

No need to hate anyone for liking a competitor. I look at it this way: Bryce was against a 120th ranked defense missing 3 starters in the secondary. Hendon was against a top ranked defense with more 5*s than anyone in nation. Yet, Hendon played much better and secured win for his team.

As an add on to your post, I would like to point out that Bama ran 21 more plays than TN. Bama also had 15 more minutes, time of possession than Tn. Tn. had more yards per completion, and yards per carry than Bama. Tennessee does not owe anything to Bama and certainly nothing to apologize for to anyone. I'm putting your ass in time-out, so go set in the corner and suck your thumb (assuming you pulled it out of your ass)

I cannot respect him since he, basically, ran that kid away from his family and took his place in Fansville.....

He is a great talent and I was happy he was healthy and played. I wanted Bama at their best.

BY is a helluva player, and from all accounts a good kid to boot. Not exactly his fault he plays for a liliputian jack-(deleted)

I'm glad we don't face him in 2023.

He played like the reigning Heisman winner. Unfortunately he was up against the future Heisman winner

Trevor Knight (Oklahoma, Texas A&M) bet his salary on Hendon Hooker winning the Heisman on our show on Saturday night!

Nothing wrong with recognizing the skill of other players. I agree, his performance on Saturday night was simply a thing of beauty......just glad that the last series he ran out of gas..... :)

I can't say Hendon played MUCH better. Bryce literally made no mistakes from what I saw. Hendon had an int and FL.

I've been thinking it over and I agree with you. Hendon had less to work with and had a slightly higher QB rating for the game. I now would vote Hendon no. 1 for the Heisman at this point in the season.

It's not like BY did something unique to our defense. Aiden O'Connell passed for 534 last year in the bowl game. Will Levis almost hit 400 passing last season. Anthony Richardson did basically the same thing against us and had over 500 total yards a few weeks ago. As someone above pointed out, BY did it to the 120th ranked pass defense who was also down 3 of our top 4 defensive backs while having elite talent all over the field around him. HH did it to a 5 star defense across the board that was ranked in the top 15 in defense coming into the game. His performance was much more impressive than Young's.

Some of those long scrambles and throws were also greatly aided by holding all over the place. The hit they reviewed for targeting would never have happened on that play had the massive hold not taken place that let him escape to get to that point.

That’s not a bad thing to say really . BY is one of the best college qbs there is as far as an all around player . Even with orange colored glasses on you can see that . That being said .. a tie goes to the best damn QB rocking the orange and giving his all for Tennessee !

/QUOTE]
I think that was an ill-informed bet!
Hendon and Bryce BOTH put on impressive displays comparable to each other ... not sure that the voting world saw a runaway winner.
Last year, Young won ... because the voting was split among 3 northern candidates. This time, I think it will be split among 3 southern candidates.
The south voters are gonna split up the vote between Hooker, Stetson Barrett and Bryce Young at this time ... in the North it will be a solid block of votes for CJ Stroud (as long as Ohio State remains undefeated).
The GA - TN give might give Hooker voting points ... BUT only if TN wins AND Hooker has another great game.
That would likely pit ALA - TN in the SEC title game .... and put the focus back on Hooker and Young. The exposure might be enough to give the winner an edge in the voting.
If you like to gamble ... put equal money on Hooker and Young ... and hope for the best.
