Young had to make his own plays no doubt. He also definitely showed why he is the Heisman winner.

However Hooker’s numbers were (in that game) and are simply better and Hooker got the win.

Hooker makes it look easy while Young maybe makes it look harder than it “should” be.

I think that was an ill-informed bet!
Hendon and Bryce BOTH put on impressive displays comparable to each other ... not sure that the voting world saw a runaway winner.
Last year, Young won ... because the voting was split among 3 northern candidates. This time, I think it will be split among 3 southern candidates.
The south voters are gonna split up the vote between Hooker, Stetson Barrett and Bryce Young at this time ... in the North it will be a solid block of votes for CJ Stroud (as long as Ohio State remains undefeated).
The GA - TN give might give Hooker voting points ... BUT only if TN wins AND Hooker has another great game.
That would likely pit ALA - TN in the SEC title game .... and put the focus back on Hooker and Young. The exposure might be enough to give the winner an edge in the voting.
If you like to gamble ... put equal money on Hooker and Young ... and hope for the best.

In Trevor's defense he also shotgunned a beer on our show ten minutes earlier ...

Hooker has a 187.72 passer rating; Young as a 167.2, not even a top 10. In the UT v Alabama game, Hendons QB rating was significantly higher. Young may become a better pro(that’s to be seen) but this year so far, Hooker has been a much better QB. Would I swap Hooker for Young? Not only no, but he!! no. Anyone that would, should apply to Pruitt for his next coaching job.

Nothing but respect for Bryce as a player, and I hate bammer as much as anyone.

At least 3-4 times he somehow completed passes to WRs that were just blanketed. he is the real deal. I anticipate he will be highly successful on Sunday, if he can stay healthy.

Bryce Young is a great player but it is not the first time a TN defense has made someone look like a Heisman candidate.

I saw the game and am a diehard Vol Fan even before'98. I hate Bama with the best of you, but . . .I respect Bryce young. He proved he's a man with his toe to toe passing and his ability to take hard hits. Yes, I hate the rest of the team but I would vote a tie between him and Hendon.
Young is a baller. He gained my respect. It also showed just how bad ass hooker is.

No shame in recognizing the talent in Bryce Young. Kid played phenomenal. We beat Alabama by 3-4 TDs if Milroe is under center. With the big lead we built early on, Bama wouldn't have been able to run the ball. There is a reason they threw 52 times.

Young is better than I ever thought he was. I was there at the game and watching him on TV does not do him justice. He was more elusive than I ever imagined, and he could turn on a dime, and his passes were sharp on target. Without him we win by 21.

My question to you, and I’m not trying to be an a$$, would you trade Hooker for Young?

No need to hate anyone for liking a competitor. I look at it this way: Bryce was against a 120th ranked defense missing 3 starters in the secondary. Hendon was against a top ranked defense with more 5*s than anyone in nation. Yet, Hendon played much better and secured win for his team.

Not to tout BY over HH...

I haven't watched the replay closely (yet), but from the north end zone, BY completed several passes to well covered receivers. Yes, we were short handed...even at 100%, we don't exactly have The Cobra, Deon nor EB back there...but our passing D was light years ahead of years past. I'd even say our DB's played very well considering. BY threw several balls into tight coverage and made dang near perfect throws. And he was getting hammered every 3rd or 4th throw.

That's a tough one to answer. They're probably the two best in the country. HH had better protection (haven't said that in 15 years or so), better play calling, and a relatively penalty free supporting cast.

BY's hadn't played in 3 weeks (?), faced regular pressure, had to overcome the penalties, and did it in front the loudest crowd I've ever heard.

I wouldn't trade HH for anybody...but I'd never complain if BY was our QB.

Feel the same way about Bryce Young. Never saw him play last year and kid is quite a talent. However, slight to strong edge to HH4H as our O line was hardly being mentioned as one of the top 2 SEC front lines.

Nah, I agree. Bryce is one of the best college QB’s I’ve seen. He comes across as a good person too. I think him, CJ Stroud, and Hooker are the top 3 in the country right now. All 3 are probably going to NY. I could also see them being a successful signal callers in each other’s offense. They’re all elite, just have different skill-sets.

The Heisman is a political award to a certain extent but in this case that will help Tennessee and Hendon. The story behind Tennessee coming relatively out of now where to having the best offense in the country and Hooker is putting up the number and playing turnover free. Not to mention he is a transfer and old for a college student, its a great story for the media when the other two guys are 5 stars who everyone always knew would be good. If we go 12-0 Hooker will win the Heisman lock it up, 11-1 and he still has a very good shot imo.

You could have just thought this and not started a thread about it...
