I saw this tweet last night: 2014 Helix grad Jalen Davis will start at CB for Utah State as a true freshman this weekend vs. Tennessee. @SDPreps

Wonder if we will attack him or not:crazy:

Totally agree, but he can cause some problems....especially early. That all hinges on him being truly healthy too.

Hopefully our newfound team speed will offset him. Our performance against QB's who could run last year makes me a little nervous though.

I still think our positives in this game vastly outweigh our negatives and it won't be close. Something about this game reminds me of the NC State matchup from a couple of years back.

100% Agree with everything here - especially the NCSU matchup.

Yeah....he's going to get violated, in a prison-sort-of-way.

I think we will see a lot of zone defense against our receivers. They would be dumb to play man-to-man very much.

My biggest concern is the matchup of our WR's vs. their DB's. I'm afraid the matchups will be so lopsided we may be flagged for "unsportsmanlike conduct" every time we throw the ball.

Gonna be uglier than Whoopie Goldberg.

Yep....and that just puts the ball in the receivers hands....with room to run. Could get fugly quick.

News just came out for USU that they will be starting a 5'9 165 lb true freshmen with only one D1 offer at corner against Tennessee. He will be starting opposite of Daniel Gray. Keep lickin your chops.

My big worry is keeping all of these skill players happy! There is only one football and we have a plethora of good skill people!

I absolutely do. Win or lose I think Utah state is going to surprise most people on here as 90% of people seem to think Tennessee is just going to outmatch usu physically and steam roll them.

Ask NC State about their experience against the worst coached team in Tennessee history....in a game much like this one.

I don't understand why so many are down on this game. I think TN wins by a TD or two. I mean if you just compare the recruiting rankings, there is a big difference.

TN may have more younger players but still they're more talented than what USU has.

From 247Sports.
Team - Class yr - Rank

USU 2014 111
TN 2014 7

USU 2013 107
TN 2013 24

USU 2012 -107
TN 2012 - 20

USU 2011 - 110

If this post is correct, the USU corners will be giving up about 21 lbs and 3 inches on average to our guys. I'll take that matchup anyday.

Still think the TE's and RB's will be big when our OLine slips. Check downs and slants and quick drops will keep our offense on the field, boost WorleyBird confidence, and give our OLine help. Imagine a checkdown to Jalen Hurd...feel pretty confident that he will pick up some yards in tough plays.

5 inches. Don't want to kill your logic. Just pointing out a typo. I'm even more excited than i was when i read it the first time.

I'm scared. I've learned they return a top 15 defense (adjusted for S.O.S.) and that recruiting rankings mean nothing on the field of play. Hercules himself couldn't run the ball against them and Hermes couldn't get open against their secondary. It's gonna be ugly y'all.

Doesn't matter. You see to USU fans and even a sizeable portion of Vol fans here... those things don't matter. Of course to those same Vol fans, that's ALL that matters when someone else avg's say an 8th ranked class vs UT's 12th ranked classes.

But you have to learn that this 100 place difference in talent rankings... just doesn't matter when it would seem to favor UT or suggest UT should manhandle this team.

Seriously, USU has some good players that were diamonds in the rough like Virgil, Keeton, and Fackrell. Their problem is the role players in between them. UT matches those guys with many more at their level of talent then fills "roles" with guys significantly more talented than their role players.

I am impressed with Jones' player development. If the game week and gameday coaching matches the development program... UT is going to dominate USU.
