I'm worried about.... (Merged)

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Aggies blitz linebackers and/or safeties, early and often, to try to disrupt our O before it even becomes an issue of our big wr's vs. their smaller dbs.

Then we shall screen and draw play until they don't.

Their 5'9" corners vs. our 6'3" and 6'5" receivers should be a huge advantage-- unless Worley continues to underthrow. That could get ugly. I'm hoping Worley has progressed as much as the coaches say.

I don't know why people are so worried about USU. Yes, we put up humiliating performances over the last few years, but most of those were Dooley & co. yes, we struggled some last year, but we played very well at times.

This is how the next few weeks will go down:

1. We will beat the brakes off of USU. Everyone is going to be feeling pretty good about our chances this season....
2. We will curb stomp Arky State. All of VN will rejoice and start threads about why we should be ranked and that College Gameday should come to Knoxville no less than twice this year.
3. We will go to Norman and get throttled by the Sooners. All of VN will scream for Worley to be benched and I will have to eat crow for all of the sh!t I've been talking the OU fans I see here in north TX.

All that being said....I whole-heartedly believe that better times are coming and I trust Butch & co 10,000%

GO VOLS!

If this post is correct, the USU corners will be giving up about 21 lbs and 3 inches on average to our guys. I'll take that matchup anyday.

Still think the TE's and RB's will be big when our OLine slips. Check downs and slants and quick drops will keep our offense on the field, boost WorleyBird confidence, and give our OLine help. Imagine a checkdown to Jalen Hurd...feel pretty confident that he will pick up some yards in tough plays.
Try 5 inch 21 lbs

With small corners I would put Croom and a tight end to the same side and bring the H-back in motion and run it down their throats for two quarters and let the humidity gremlins eat them in the second half.

I was concerned about their offense until I heard they will be starting 4 new offensive linemen. They had better throw early and often because the running game will be non-existent outside of the QB.

The biggest difference I noted was that our corners are buigger than their wider receivers. Not in height but the weight and likely strength that they will have is going to be a considerable impact on their ability to have a passing game.

I am anxious to see how this looks. Seems like it would look like a LB on a WR, but faster!

If Worley's isn't getting enough time, we'll be alright when the Lane/Hurd start gashing them up the middle and Wolf/Helm staying open on the seams

Totally agree, but he can cause some problems....especially early. That all hinges on him being truly healthy too.

Hopefully our newfound team speed will offset him. Our performance against QB's who could run last year makes me a little nervous though.

I still think our positives in this game vastly outweigh our negatives and it won't be close. Something about this game reminds me of the NC State matchup from a couple of years back.

From what I've watched he does more in the later quarters of the halves. He struggles early and then puts up big numbers after figuring out game plans. He's a good redzone QB. But all of his known playmakers graduated.

USU will be very aggressive after the qb so screen their eyes out! WR screens, tunnel screens and tailback screens.

One big thing I really like about this match up,

Our OL weight is 39 lbs more than their DL. We should see a few good pancakes in the trenches.

Ask NC State about their experience against the worst coached team in Tennessee history....in a game much like this one.

Utah State lost pretty much the majority of their super squad of 2*s that went Boise State-ish the last couple of seasons...yet just like when CBJ/Cincy came here...NC State...Western Kentucky....then we always

Then afterwards we be like....

I'm scared. I've learned they return a top 15 defense (adjusted for S.O.S.) and that recruiting rankings mean nothing on the field of play. Hercules himself couldn't run the ball against them and Hermes couldn't get open against their secondary. It's gonna be ugly y'all.
Yeah. It's definitely going to get ugly. Worley's going to be pulled.......... after amassing 300+ yards and Peterman and Dobbs get to toss a td or two. Ugly......like being skeered of USU.

:neener2:

Utah State would pee their jock if we came out in a 5-wide set from the opening kick-off.
We don't have to come out in a 5-wide, to make them pee in 'dey britches. Our normal alignment should do that.

1) North (6'4")
2) Von Pearson (6'3)
3) Pig in the slot (our version of Wes Welker)
4) Wolfe (TE, 6'5")
5) Hurd (6'3")

That's a lot of size...except for Pig...to have to defend.
