I'm worried about.... (Merged)

If this post is correct, the USU corners will be giving up about 21 lbs and 3 inches on average to our guys. I'll take that matchup anyday.

Still think the TE's and RB's will be big when our OLine slips. Check downs and slants and quick drops will keep our offense on the field, boost WorleyBird confidence, and give our OLine help. Imagine a checkdown to Jalen Hurd...feel pretty confident that he will pick up some yards in tough plays.

I took that from the official rosters of both teams and not necessarily the ones playing on Sunday. With that being said their CB's are terrible outmatched in height and weight by our WR corps still.

I'm scared. I've learned they return a top 15 defense (adjusted for S.O.S.) and that recruiting rankings mean nothing on the field of play. Hercules himself couldn't run the ball against them and Hermes couldn't get open against their secondary. It's gonna be ugly y'all.

By the beard of Zeus, we're in trouble

USU..1-16 against the SEC. Last win came in 1970 versus Kentucky. They likely won't even have anyone on the sidelines that was alive the last time they won against the SEC, or at least anyone who could tie their own shoes when it happened.

It interesting that they claim to return a top 15 D... after losing 2 or 3 DL's, their best LB, and 3 of 4 DB's including their best one.

Seven of the top 11 tacklers from last year are gone. At least 3 of the 5 tackle leaders on their DL are gone. Five of their top 7 tacklers in the secondary are gone.

The strength of what they return is at LB. Zach and Nick Vigil return along with Fackrell. Combined they had 264 tackles last fall. The next 5 LB's in terms of tackles in '13... totaled less than 40 tackles for the year between them including ST's.

They count on their LB's to make alot of plays.

Utah State would pee their jock if we came out in a 5-wide set from the opening kick-off.

This actually wouldn't be a bad idea. 1. It spreads the defense out and 2. it gets more speed and playmakers on the field. I would not be surprised to see this a lot this year.

That's what I thought too, but apparently last season was just a smokescreen. The new guys are actually a lot better than the old guys because they weren't as highly ranked as recruits. They played the others last year to lull UT into a false sense of security. The only thing more surprising than USU ending the season as the #1 defensive team in college football will be UT managing a single positive yard against them.

My Mac has instant spell correct, which prohibits me from keeping a great VN tradition. :birgits_giggle:

I'm on my broken old iPhone 4 that actually types out words seconds after I touch the screen, so spelling errors are my specialty

I too am worried. I tossed and turned in bed last night. The atrocities of ISIS have nothing on whether North and Pig can get open against USU cornerbacks.
We need heavy meds and counseling to get through this. Pray.

Number are correct if you average them collectively. But if you remove the slot guys and include only our 2-deep WR vs USU CB's, the average amounts to this:

USU CB's - Average 5'10" 181lbs
UT WR's - Average 6'4" 213lbs

that's still a 6-inch, 32-lb advantage PER PERSON..

cleanup crew on the hashmarks, stat!

I did my public school math averaging the entire roster..before I saw the 2 deeps...it's even more glaring now. :good!:

That's the least of our worries...both offense and defensive lines are our only concerns going into this game. We have too many skilled receivers for Utah state to handle.

News just came out for USU that they will be starting a 5'9 165 lb true freshmen with only one D1 offer at corner against Tennessee. He will be starting opposite of Daniel Gray. Keep lickin your chops.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Aggies blitz linebackers and/or safeties, early and often, to try to disrupt our O before it even becomes an issue of our big wr's vs. their smaller dbs.
