In Orwellian fashion Biden brags about 100's of Americans getting fired...

Let me guess. You are holding water for Biden bragging about getting people fired?
No, I just happen to have read Animal Farm and 1984, and I don't see what the hell your claim has to do with the work of George Orwell.

"In Orwellian fashion" ?

If Biden tries to ban strawberry jam? I will raise hell right with you.

I'm not sure what was meant by this, but there are strong similarities between the Trump administration and Big Brother, with regard to how loyalty to the party was defined ...

O'Brien identified Winston Smith as a dissident, just because Smith refused to rewrite historical documents to match a changing party line. The truth and the established facts were irrelevant to O'Brien. The subjects of Oceania either complied with what Big Brother ordered, or they were disloyal. Big Brother wasn't interested in even knowing what the facts were. They just wanted blind servitude.

Donald Trump's vindictiveness towards Gov. Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger of Georgia, reveals a similar attitude and policy. This is most evident in Trump's phone call with Raffensperger. During the call, Secretary of State Raffensperger is trying to tell Trump that his data is wrong, but Trump doesn't want to hear it. Trump just wants Raffensperger to "find" his votes. That is eerily similar of the demands made to Winston Smith, while he was working in the Records Department for the Ministry of Truth. Whenever the truth doesn't serve your agenda... just create your own truth - or "alternative facts". That sums up how Trump has handled his defeat in the 2020 Presidential Election, and why we are still seeing audits... 11 months after the damn election.

... and who was it that even used the term "alternative facts" ? Kellyanne Conway - a Trump spokesperson. LOL!

If you don't see the obvious similarities between Trump and Big Brother... then you either haven't read "1984" or you lived in a cave from January 20, 2017 to January 20, 2021.

You probably barely got a C in English and that's only because it was harder to catch plagiarism and not because of critical thinking skills.

The Biden administration has more in common with George Orwell's book than probably all combined administration's since Eiswnhower who warned us about the military industrial complex.

This takes me to a few quotes by the great writer/philosopher Ayn Rand:

“Everyone has the right to make his own decisions, but none has the right to force his decision on others.”

"A businessman cannot force you to buy his product; if he makes a mistake, he suffers the consequences; if he fails, he takes the loss. If bureaucrat makes a mistake, you suffer the consequences; if he fails, he passes the loss on to you."

"A society that robs the individual of the product of his effort...is not strictly speaking a society, but a mob held together by institutional gang violence."

"The government was set to protect man from criminals. And the constitution was written to protect man from government."

“There is no difference between communism and socialism, except in the means of achieving the same ultimate end: communism proposes to enslave men by force; socialism by vote”.

There is no way that you have read 1984... or even seen the movie with John Hurt as Winston (from 1984).

If I'm wrong, then please tell me :

What fear does O'Brien subject Winston to in Room 101, that causes him to betray Julia? Anyone with even a vague familiarity with "1984" will know the answer to this.

.... and why are you quoting Ayn Rand in a thread concerning the work of George Orwell?

It's pretty Orwellian how the CDC and various health departments have got neighbors reporting on neighbors, children on parents, coworkers and friends on each other. For no masks, parties, gathering in groups of more than 6, operating business hours.

Funny you bring up doublespeak because we see that too. Natural immunity, something we all have, and is well established is ignored, denied, and removed from medical writing on Covid.

Biden and his team are guilty of doublespeak too. Pro environment by shutting down our pipelines, then turns around and allows Russian pipelines.

Both have tried establishing their proles. And Biden/progressives have been just as serious with party line as Trump was. As Manchin and bathroom trips with Sinema can attest.

Biden was supposed to be the great unifier, but every time he doesnt get his way he is throwing someone under the bus. Party loyalty is all that matters under this administration too.

Pur government has been Orwellian for a while.

But Oceania was ruled by a totalitarian form of government?

The Republican Party's current state of fealty to Trump, is much more in line with the dystopian society that George Orwell cautioned against. Truth no longer matters, Only strict obedience to Big Brother.

It's the simple fact you focus in on Trump being the main protagonist whilst completely ignoring the utter and complete similarities on the Democrat side of the spectrum. You cannot invoke 1984 and try to fit Trump and conservatives into the mold without also seeing the same actions (even more so) on the left side of the equation.

You literally cherry picked a selected scene out of a novel and try to apply it to Trump. And while focusing on a single tree, miss the huge forest around you.

Oh, really? You should explain what I got wrong.

Donald Trump's attacks against his fellow Republicans for simply doing their jobs and declining to participate in his purely self-serving scheme to overturn the outcome of the 2020 Presidential Election is about as "Orwellian" as it gets.

Also, take note of how Trump has referred to both Kemp and Raffensperger as "Rinos". In other words, you don't belong to this party unless you bend to my will = Orwellian as hell.

Also, Orwellian:

Trump tried to use the power of his office to settle scores with both personal and political enemies.

and

Trump tried to use the power and political influence of his office .... to remain in office.

Unlike Big Brother, Trump was not successful with these attempts, but it wasn't from a lack of effort. That's for sure.

What your missing is the entirety of the federal government has gone Orwellian. Has been moving that way for almost 100 years regardless who the POTUS is.

What you don't want to acknowledge are the unprecedented lengths which Donald Trump went to in effort to retain the presidency in between the meeting of electors on December 14th, when their votes were cast and the day those votes were called into roll and certified on January 6th in the House Chamber of the United States Capitol.

That 23 day window was truly unlike anything which has ever happened in the United States before. The "it's always been that way," or "what about the Russia probe?" standard deflections are not comparable to what Trump has been shown to have done while still in office. Special attention should be given to the Jeffrey Clark / Jeffrey Rosen fiasco. Trump was more than willing to use the power of his office to nullify his own defeat.

If this does become the blueprint for how a sitting President can cope with a defeat, it will eventually threaten the democratic system of elections in the United States. Now THAT would be Orwellian.

Do you want to acknowledge the unprecedented lengths the left went through trying to keep him out of the Oval Office? Or remove him once he was there?

You really want to talk Orwellian when the left swallowed each and every lie hook, line and sinker?

Nice deflection but we are seeing what Orwellian looks like with the Biden administrative state. This authoritative urge with be put down in 2022.

We know you'll still be toting water and playing whataboutism. You appear destined to become an odd lib, an oddity like an old gay couple or an 80 year old with sleeve tattoos and body piercings.

Sorry, but there are no comparable cards of "what-about-ism" to play here. Trump tried to use the power of his office to nullify his own defeat.... and it came close to creating a Constitutional crisis. Jeffrey Clark was all about it. It was Rosen who took a stand.

I fully acknowledge Trump went out of bounds and was grasping at straws to retain the Presidency but in the end failed. Outside of that Trump was not Orwellian in the least, he was a victim of an Orwellian system.
