Injuries piling up for Florida

If UT beats UF, I'll give UT its props and continue to post here.

Same here.

I keep on saying that i dont hate ut, there just hasnt been much to say thats been positive in the last few years.

My posts about Tennessee will change as things change.

Anyone who paid attention to me knows what i thought about dooley's recruiting and that i have praised jones' recruiting efforts

If the vols beat Florida , anyone think the Florida posters will disappear or post a lot less

I'll come back like I do every year about 30-40 days before the season starts, desperate for anything football related. And then I'll disappear shortly after the UT-UF game, just like I do most every year, win or lose. Although I've only been posting here for like 4 or 5 years I think, so I've never been in the position to come back after a loss.

Purifoy doesn't hit hard enough to get flagged.

I might be one of the few UF fans who thinks he's more sizzle than steak as a lockdown corner.

He's money on special teams and an effective blitzer, but Roberson is much better in coverage.

Purifoy is a good corner, not great, but he has a high ceiling and is a play maker. But yes, on the UF team last year, he was IMO, the weakest of the three corners (watkins, roberson the other primary starters).

That being said, weak is relative here, the group is very strong, and he has a nose for the ball and the big play.

Purifoy is going to have a big year for Florida in 2013 all over the field. But Roberson and Poole will be the guys that lock people down.

I think Florida is a bit overrated this year.

I think people are making some assumptions, yes. The assumption being made about our defense is that the guys coming in to replace 8 starters are going to be as good as they were. As a unit, on paper, that certainly seems reasonable. But until they play 3-4 games, its tough to say if that's a correct assessment.

On the flip side, everyone (including me) assumes that the offense is really going to struggle because our QB can't throw and we have no real receiver threat. Plus our go to RB graduated and is in the NFL.

Based on last year, it would certainly appear that we will struggle offensively. But really, if we can just get a little bit going with Driskel things could be a lot better than last year.

So while I agree that its probably a mistake to put UF in the preseason Top 10, they do seem to me to have quite a lot of upside potential and could just as easily be in the BCS picture as finish third in the SECe.

Answer: Fewer gator Posts? No. They've beaten us, what? Eight straight times. We win one, barely a dent in the series. If we win five straight, probably then fewer posts but not just one game. No, again. Because except maybe for 1 or 2 Gaydar posters, the ones we see often are usually decent. They're not consistent braggarts and determined unwiped rectums. So I'd see them still posting. Very likely, semi glad we won because it could mean getting the series back as an actual rivalry. I don't think they want a Tennessee that's easy picking year in and year out. They want a game, a bit of drama, a contest, and victory that has to be earned instead of found in the gutter.

Yeah, I like the UT/UF rivalry. It's much better than the dumb Dawgs or the Clowns. Can you suggest a way to get the intensity of the rivalry hyped up without UF actually having to lose? We don't want that.

Why do y'all bother us? It's not a rivalry at the moment. We are a joke until proven otherwise. Like you were pre-1985.

I don't want to win because of a down foe, and I have ZERO desire to see ANY person, let alone an 18-22 with their entire life infront of them to be seriously injured.

I hope they all recover, play, and WE BEAT THEM ANYWAY....

GBO!!!

Just being honest, right now and based on history, I don't like our odds against UF this year, injuries or not. It's just the way it is.

Hope I get to dine on crow after the game though.

I wouldn't mind if a gang of raccoons attacked driskel before the game, causing him to sit out. Actually, I don't think his presence would make the difference in us pulling the upset. So just forget it. Me and my raccoons will stay home this year

UF's odds of winning probably went up since that goofball Driscoll is hurt.

Last year with amediocre coach you guys predicted a four to five TD win. This year with a much better coach you are throwing in the towel? Go figure.

And you guys have an excellent O-Line. Last year I foolishly hoped for a quasi-honest discussion of strengths and weaknesses of the two teams and was disappointed. This year you are buying the optimistic Gator version of reality.

Look. In addition to the recent injuries, the Gator team is one that lost:

1) Its top three safeties and one was a first rounder;
2)Both its starting DTs and one was a first rounder. The other had started and played credibly for three years.
3) Two of its three starting LBs, both were drafted.

And on offense,

4) Both its LG and LT who were 5* and high 4* recruits and each of whom had started for years;
5) The first RB in (?) seven years to run for 1000 yds;
6)Its leading (by far) pass receiver;
and,
7) Its second string QB leaving no QB except the starter who has thrown a pass in CFB,

Because of good recruiting, the Gators should still win 8 games, but if they win 9 you can chalk it up to good coaching. I am very glad the UT game is in the swamp.

Nope. We're coming. We'll end up being to you what LSU is to Bama. We're coming.

Maybe play your scout team against us so we can keep it close?

1) UF will take a step back at safety. But Cody Riggs is going to be solid at one spot and Jaylen Watkins will probably take the other. The talent and depth in the secondary is the best on the team.

2) Losing Floyd hurts. Hunter is easily replaceable.

3) LB is where UF is hurting the most, but Morrison played just as much as Jenkins last year and they have experience with Kitchens, Taylor, Ball, and Powell. The depth is talented and there are talented young guys that will play, but it's the position that lost the most IMO.

4) Outside of Xavier Nixon's first season, he was never particularly impressive as a gator. His replacement this year is an upgrade. James Wilson was a guy that was hurt his WHOLE career. He didn't do anything meaningful until last year, and even then he was hurt a lot.

5) UF will have another 1000 yard back this year. It's about system. Gilly was a good back, but not irreplaceable.

6) Receiver is better off than it was last year. TE isn't as good, although Taylor has a chance to be good, but receiver will be better with the infusion of young talent it just received.

7) Like most teams, if our #1 guy gets hurt the team is probably in trouble. Although at least Murphy has been around for a while and is mobile.

Your post was so doom and gloom. I think 9 wins sounds right. 10 or 11 if the coaching is good.

It was posted on another message board that Andre Debose was injured at practice yesterday.

No confirmation at this point.

All these injuries and yet Muchamp seems calm, cool and collected about it! :)
