Injuries piling up for Florida

Guys the excuses here are getting old. Injuries have not been a factor in our losses against Florida. We've been outcoached, manhandled physically and their talent has been superior to UT's for many many years now. While I believe Butch will have us relevant again and competing against the top of the SEC, the sad fact is that UF has by far been the more successful program this decade, and the explanation is great coaching and great talent. Period.
This^^^^^^^^^^^^^^:good!:

Another post for the time capsule. :eek:lol:

UT hasn't settled on a starting QB yet, but you're already comapring him to last year's Heisman winner.

Seriously, I had UF going 7-5 and back to the Gator Bowl. If I had known UT's 3-4 D was going to be such a disaster, I would have said 8-4.

No, I'm not comparing anyone to Manziel. But you interjected a requirement to run a successful Read-Option was to be a "veteran." I disagree. Kids have been running this since Pop Warner. It's a much easier read for the QB than a straight Pro Set passing offense (thus, Driskel's problems). The hits are harder in college, but the holes are still there. UT has 3 guys who could run the Read-Option, and the best OLine in FBS.

No, you started a thread explicitly stating UF would go 5-7 in 2012. Here's the link again in case you forgot...again...

I bumped it on the Around the NCAA forum just in case it slipped your memory.

As for the rest of your post regarding Manziel...keep in mind you brought up Manziel. I look forward to holding that post against you in a couple months.

I went through the thread and would post it again based on what was known at the time. And I didn't notice your prediction there that UF would win 11.

LawGator1 said: "Anywhere from 4-6 to 7-5 is possible.

Regardless, its going to be another mediocre year for us Gators, I do believe."

I didn't expect 11 wins, few if any UF fans expected 11 wins.

I also didn't start a thread boldly predicting 5 wins. Here's the link to that thread in case I failed to post it previously.

Own it buddy...just own it. :eek:lol:

Are you being deliberately obtuse?

I asked if UF faced a Read-option team in 2012. You replied that it's not relevant to anything because UT doesn't have a "veteran" QB with Read-Option skills. I reminded you that this time last year, TAMU didn't have a "veteran" QB at all. Turns out, being a veteran isn't essential to perform successfully if you're talented.

Just as no one knew how good Manziel would be, no one knows how good UT's QBs will be. And no one knows whether or not Butch will run the Read-Option in the 1st place.

So don't come back to me in 2 months saying I said UT had a Heisman QB. If you were a litigator, you would know that your question of relevance would have been objected to and the objection sustained...because YOU unnecessarily interjected the concept of "veteran."

I said I'd predict it again, based on what was known at the time. And if you're honest, you had to see the Gators losing to TAMU, UT an Mizzou well into the 2nd half.

Being a veteran isn't essential if you have Manziel or Tebow-like talent.

Whether or not Peterman, Dobbs or Worley have that level of talent remains to be seen.

But seeing as how YOU brought up Manziel, I reserve the right to hold your words against you.

And rarely do you let me down...take this thread for instance...where a certain VN poster predicted UF would go 5-7 in 2012.

Now you're being dishonest, when you don't have to be.

Manziel is an example of a guy no one saw coming. Just like UGA's 2 freshmen TBs. That's the point of my reference to him. I'm not comparing anyone to him in terms of talent, because the guys to be compared haven't played much/any college football yet, which is the point to discredit your assumption that a having a "veteran" is an imperative.

But we have established, I infer, that UF hasn't seen a Read-Option. Now that UF's D's talent is depleted, this could prove relevant in how HCs, including perhaps BJones, game plans for the Gators.

And the question still remains why you would waste your valuable time debating someone with no credibility.

Own your predictions ole wise one.

If you can find a post from me saying UF would lose to UT, Texas A&M AND Missouri, then link it....like this thread started by some guy predicting UF would only win 5 games in 2012.

Look, the Gators aren't a NC caliber team. And weren't last year, as the Sugar Bowl proved. Whether they won 5 or 11, they embarrassed themselves and the SEC at the end of the day. Please keep this post in your portfolio.

Manziel was tabbed as Texas A&M's starter from the start of 2012 fall camp.

UT's QB starter has yet to be determined, and we're a month from opening kickoff.

Again, you brought up Manziel, so I'm just responding to your nonsense.

If by some miracle Worley, Peterman or Dobbs turns out to be the next Manziel I'll give credit where credit is due...unlike a certain poster here who predicted a 5-win season for the Gators.

I never started a thread saying Florida was a NC caliber team...never claimed as much this season. Whoever wins the East is headed for a beating from Bama.

But based on this thread you started, UF exceeded your 2012 expectations...doubling the number of wins you so boldly predicted.

Who knows, UT might just line up behind the 1600+ lb OLine and road grade some road kill. No read-option required. No veteran QB required. No Tyler Bray arm required. McCarron won his 1st NC the same way.

Personally I would rather there not be any talk about.. If Florida was healthy would UT still have won? talk from ESPN after the game.

And they lost twice as many games as predicted by most in 2011.

Goes to show this sport isn't linear (except for Alabama at the moment).

Jesus, Wait until the first CBS game Florida plays. Verne will talk about Driskel's appendectomy 70%-80% of the time he does anything and 100% if he throws a touchdown. I hate Lundquist......

Verne and Gary on CBS can both kiss my a**, and I hate listening to them kissing up to whoever we play. It's like they are amazed if we do anything good. Makes me sick.
GO VOLS!!!!

UF still has one of, if not, THE TOP DL in the country.... Outside of that- The last decade has been about momentum swings, flukes, and Special Teams. There has been a turning point in every game including 06 ? We will see who wants it more in the Swamp this year.

The guy they won't replace defensively is Elam. Other than that, they will be fine.

And with the new sec rules, Elam would have been suspended every game anyway. It's illegal to hit people hard now

As a Ravid Raven fan. Thank you for Matt Elam. He is tearing it up in practice up here and will be starting as a rookie. I love Ed Reed but at his age and injuries. Elam is a definite upgrade at this point. He has an incredible football intellect and is very humble. That being said. Go Vols and "Eight is enough". Time for the Vols to start a streak of their own. :)

I hope they're all healthy when we play them...that way they won't have an excuse when we whoop them!
