Injuries piling up for Florida

An appendectomy isn't a big deal

I disagree. My aunt died on the operating table while having hers removed. It was punctured during the operation. They couldn't stop the fluid from leaking out in to her system.

I'm sure it's a rare thing, but anytime someone is under the knife it's a serious thing IMO.

I missed that new rule. Cite? :)

I didn't mention it in the other thread but I will here.

Another little prediction.

You know how there are times where a basketball player is called for a flagrant foul because the collision looks bad. It wasn't really flagrant, it just looked bad.

You watch, people will be ejected for delivering a legal hard hit, because the player who was hit gets hurt or the collision looks really bad.

So, yeah, I am willing to bet a guy gets ejected and suspended for hitting someone too hard.

Pretty much guarantee it. That's all I will say on the subject here

Purifoy looks like a good candidate to miss a game or 6.

Verne and Gary on CBS can both kiss my a**, and I hate listening to them kissing up to whoever we play. It's like they are amazed if we do anything good. Makes me sick.
GO VOLS!!!!

I'm a Tennessee fan and I'm amazed when we do something good.

As a Ravid Raven fan. Thank you for Matt Elam. He is tearing it up in practice up here and will be starting as a rookie. I love Ed Reed but at his age and injuries. Elam is a definite upgrade at this point. He has an incredible football intellect and is very humble. That being said. Go Vols and "Eight is enough". Time for the Vols to start a streak of their own. :)

You're very welcome...Elam's going to be a great one. :hi:

Purifoy doesn't hit hard enough to get flagged.

I might be one of the few UF fans who thinks he's more sizzle than steak as a lockdown corner.

He's money on special teams and an effective blitzer, but Roberson is much better in coverage.

I agree. Purifoy is not very physical but on special teams he will hammer ya. Had a nice Fg block last yr. saved y'all from ULL

I can handle Gary...BUT Verne is a complete moron. If you really listen to what Verne says you know he is the biggest idiot in college football. Plus he looks like he swallowed a bowling ball.

If the vols beat Florida , anyone think the Florida posters will disappear or post a lot less

Answer: Fewer gator Posts? No. They've beaten us, what? Eight straight times. We win one, barely a dent in the series. If we win five straight, probably then fewer posts but not just one game. No, again. Because except maybe for 1 or 2 Gaydar posters, the ones we see often are usually decent. They're not consistent braggarts and determined unwiped rectums. So I'd see them still posting. Very likely, semi glad we won because it could mean getting the series back as an actual rivalry. I don't think they want a Tennessee that's easy picking year in and year out. They want a game, a bit of drama, a contest, and victory that has to be earned instead of found in the gutter.

Honestly, I doubt the UF defense will be as good next year. Replacing Bostic will be harder than most gator fans will admit, and you don't just replace first round guys like Floyd and Elam like it's nothing.

That being said, UF's depth in the secondary is ridiculous. Corner and Safety are going to be fine, great even. The DL is going to be better as a whole, than last year. Powell is back, Fowler and Bullard had strong years as true freshmen and will give UF it's best pass rush up front since 2008 and 2009.

The middle of the DL isn't as talented with Floyd's departure, but Easley is going to have a big year, and the depth is better, overall. Orr and Jacobs are going to be pretty good, and Darrious Cummings is going to play right away. Bostwick and Brantley probably won't even get a chance to play this year unless they blow up in camp (both talented freshman) and that doesn't even tough on guys like Sherit, Ivey, and Cox who could all contribute this year. The DL depth is the best it's been in many years in Gainesville.

The only weak spot on the defensive roster (and weak is relative) is LB. Morrison missing games hurts, because there aren't a lot of players at MLB. Michael Taylor has been good for Florida for a few years now and will start at one position. Ball and Kitchens are two guys that have played a ton of minutes at Florida and can play a lot of positions at LB. Alex Anzalone and Daniel McMillan are two guys that will add depth right away. In fact, Mcmillan has been such an animal he may well get into the starting rotation.

Long story short, given the coaching and the returning talent, UF is going to be stout on D, just maybe not top in the SEC.

The losses hurt more on offense, where the OL isn't that good so losing two projected starters like Halapio and Garcia to potentially lengthy injuries is bad. However, we don't know right now if it is lengthy, and both are expected back as of now. Jones really hurts, as UF was going to rely on him, but UF has a lot of talented depth at RB positions. Taylor, Lane, Brown, and Trey Burton (UT fans should know this guy) will be able to carry the load will Jones rests up. Jones will probably be back by Miami though.

Driskel is the biggest issue. He must come back healthy. UF won't be very good without him.

I know, TL;DR, but just in case you actually cared since you started the thread.

Regardless, none of it really matters, as the UT game is week 4, and all these injuries should be cleared up by then. The injury situation will probably be completely different by UT week. Also, UF has a bye week before UT.
