So, now that this looks like a done deal...doesnt at least one other team have to come with a&m? We arent gonna be a 13 team league. Who do you think it will be?
It's possible this move won't come for quite a while, but anyways
There are multiple ideas that keep getting thrown around:
VT has draw to the DC market (supposedly) but they're unlikely to budge
A lot of people want
OU (to...mainly pound their chest about how tough the conference is i guess) but they're not going to come without
okie st, who really aren't worth the metaphorical Nash Nance (nothing against the kid) that they'd pretty much be
There's a lot of throwing out of
Clemson,
GA Tech, or
FSU because they are both in the southeast (there's seemingly somewhat of a "fan movement to stay southeast" lol), however GA tech left on their own, and USCe & UF will try to block everything involving those (plus i do actually think FSU has enjoyed their quasi-dominance in their conference and might - like Va tech - not be so high on just throwing it away)
People like
NC St to talk about the another southern market (those of the state of NC), however there is a lot out there about that they hold very highly they hold their ties to Duke & UNC (and the image that tie & being in the ACC gives the school academically); some seem to think NC St feels neglected and would jump ship quickly like A&M, but it's kind of debatable;....also again some "keep it in the southeast appeal" to some
Missouri is also a
very interesting (&viable) option, mainly due to the media markets inherently tied in with them (St louis is 21st overall, Kansas city is 31st.....as far as the SEC currently goes, while Atlanta is 8th, the next largest is nashville at 40th) as well as the proximity to the other SEC states (there's some "they're not the south" discord....but anyone who's lived in the state & familiar with its history can tell you they're pretty much southerners in all but a "gateway to the west" name); anyways, could give the SEC access to stretch into those STL & KC markets, as well as possibly allow the SEC to use STL's NFL dome for events; some people don't like the pick due to it not being a bigger name/tough team, others think the school still wants to be in the big 10 after what all happened to them last summer (academic reasons felt to be key) (there's also the argument of taking it before the big 10 can, who have 7 or 8 of the top 25 media markets, 10 in the top 35)
