Insincere displays of religion by parents leads to atheism in their children's adulthood

Doesn’t really say that.

It says two of every original kind.

From there micro evolution took place.

This is true. 2 dogs. 2 cats. Etc...of the animals that existed at THAT particular time. I also have a sneaky suspicion that Noah and his sons may have been all or part Nephilim...based upon what they were able to do in such a short time. That is just my suggestion though...not scripture or proven fact.

The carbon breaks down too much to get an accurate read.

It is why the switch to uranium dating as uranium can be dated easily as it goes from 238 to 236 to Raddon 222 to polonium 210.

I do not dispute the rock accuracy as billions of years old. I simply do not believe these rocks have been in our universe that long though.

This is what I believe:

You own a home that is hundreds of years old. You need more space and build an extension.

This extension is brand new which is our current universe.

You then turn on the lights to the new room( bang!) and the new room exist.

You then move the excess furniture from your current home into the new addition ( vibrating strings M theory)

Is the room billion years old? No.

Is the furniture though? Yes.

You then close the door and seal off the original section of the home ( black hole rip in time that flattens time) which will still create an air leak under the door and pull back into the main house.

And boom you have a new universe that is in the same multiverse but not the same time line and is now self reliant.

This is why they are having to use inflation to calculate why the entire universe is the same temperature throughout. If it spun from one explosion the temp would change as it gets further to the edges but it’s not. This fiat means the entire universe came into being within seconds.

This universe is simply a sequel and may/probably collapse within itself eventually and create a whole other universe due to dark energy. Hence, the Big Crunch.

The Bigbang theory as the origin of our known universe is crap. Measured several ways it is accepted that the expansion of our universe is getting FASTER...no type of "bang" results in that happening in the vacuum of space. None. Its expanding in all directions FASTER than it was yesterday or 100 years ago...thats like firing a bullet from a rifle and it accelerating as it flew in space. Our Standard Model of physics and laws of science deem that impossible. Always thought it was a dumb way for people to rationalize a Godless creation anyway...where did all the atoms/mass/space itself come from if it was not created? If God did not create it, then who did?

i dig your theories about how God created this universe, they are interesting. I have read a bit about string theory, the multiverse, black holes, time dilation etc...i have never tried to square those things with my faith though so to speak..i find it a noble pursuit I guess, just for me not necessary.

Science and Christianity are not at odds...except in the minds of those who choose to believe they are. I dont need to know HOW God created everything...but I am certain that He did and love theoretical science as much as natural sciences. Science is merely the best understanding of the universe around us that we have AT this time. Couple hundred years ago the wisest men on earth believed the sun orbited the Earth and that the Earth was flat. The Bible says even the "wisest" thoughts of men are foolishness in the eyes of God. To put it most simply...we don't even know what all we don't yet know. Thats not gonna change either. Shoot, i have watched video from US navy F18 SuperHornets where craft accelerate...vertically...to 20+ times the speed of sound almost instantly. No creature on Earth could do that inside ANY craft without turning into a pile of pinkish goo on the floor of said vehicle. None. The (multiple) videos and crafts like these have no identifiable means of propulsion either...none. Seems they either mastered gravity/antigravity or something even more outside our understanding of physics and mass/energy/speed of light. Whatever race has that technology is so far ahead of humanity we are like monkeys in a zoo at best...maybe just like ants in an ant farm.

Imagine the One who created both us AND them. He exists outside the spacetime continuum...bc he is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent. I dont need to square humanities' infinitesimal understanding of science with His glorious Creation to sleep at night. We arent even the smart kids on our own playground(Earth) we are ignorant little fleas generally obsessed with the next big shiny expensive thing we come across while hurtling through space on a tiny chunk of mostly wet rock...

That’s fair.

The issue is 6 days in Gods world is not 6 in ours. We are basing our timeline based on our current gravity and closeness to gravity and speed at which we travel compared to light. Hypothetically a day for God could be a billion years for us if he is instantaneous and not held to the speed of light.

I do believe our galaxy is billions of years old based on our current measurement of time. I also believe the 6 days encompasses billions based on our rationale.

So yes, I believe in the BB and possibly the Big Crunch.

I find dark energy absolutely fascinating.

Cool theory. Agree with most of it.

The trunk or treats at churches have completely torpedoed our olden ways of trick or treating. And I don't care for it.

We did this for about 15 years straight. Still attend it at church, and allow our kids to wear a costume as long as it isnt evil looking. I have taken mine door to door in our neighborhood once they were older and had a relationship of their own with the Lord. Haloween is a very pagan holiday though, and lots of evil things have been done under its guise. Its up to each parents to decide how their family chooses to celebrate that one. We just did our best to protect our kids from things we deemed to be a threat. I respect that other folks likely will not see things the way that we do...which is why America is so great. We all have the freedom to do what we feel is best.

I'm definitely not an expert on cosmology but I think it's space itself that's expanding. "Space" is what contains the vacuum.

Another thing to ask is how many big bangs you or anyone else has observed. This is analogous to the watchmaker argument which was addressed by Hume about 300 years ago. You can't compare existential celestial events with explosions you've seen on earth and be reasonably confident about your conclusions.

Always thought it was a dumb way for people to rationalize a Godless creation anyway...where did all the atoms/mass/space itself come from if it was not created? If God did not create it, then who did?

Why does it make more sense to postulate a spaceless, timeless, immaterial omni-god who, although spaceless and timeless, can inject himself (or a portion of himself) into space and time and interact with people and materials therein? Because that doesn't really make sense to me.

Stay tuned. The Biden Administration will be along soon to inform you of how your children will be "allowed" to observe the Halloween holiday moving forward.

Appreciate the non aggressive attitude and respect in your post. Too many times people, both religious and not, get defensive and/or offensive (my past self included) and betray the beliefs they espouse while arguing their merits.....

While i am a bookworm of sorts, i lack much formal education and am certainly not a physicist or astronomer....that said...how would we be able to measure the expansion of space itself (it being a dark empty vacuum with no mass or light to detect or see) from the center of the known universe apart from the celestial bodies (stars..planets..dust clouds..galaxies) that are in that space? I do not see a means or instrument we have to perform that? I will do some digging, but i believe the stars and galaxies etc are how we can tell the expansion....in all directions i believe...is actually accelerating. I think all of our galaxies are moving away from the center point ever faster...which not only shows an "explosion" as we know them wasnt the beginning of the universe so to speak...it also means that IMO there are huge holes in our understanding of physics. I think there are more Forces involved than we currently recognize...gravity, magnetism, strong nuke, weak nuke etc...none of those as we currently understand them could be causing this acceleration...then theres the other HUGE hole in physics where general relativity states that we are "missing" about half the mass of what should be there for our universe to function and exist in its current state....where is it? The popular excuse these days is dark matter...which we have never seen nor even measured, much less explained.

Honestly we dont even understand gravity...barely understand magnetism either. We can somewhat observe what each does but we have no idea WHY they do anything at all....

As an aside....i think many who do not believe in God have greater faith than believers. It takes a great deal of faith to believe that rain washed over rocks for millions of years then minerals and such accidentally formed proteins which accidentally aligned perfectly A..G...C..T..to align perfectly millions and trillions of them...then they magically sprang to life where there before was none (abiogenesis) accidentally with no direction provided in primordial pools of rainwater and minerals/elements...and that single celled living thing then accidentally evolved into millions of flora and millions of fauna over time...even though our experiments show changing, adding, or subtracting just a single protein strand in DNA causes living things today to have negative mutations, deformities, and often just death.

Moreover...many many labs have taken those " building blocks of life" (proteins) and arranged them in what we now know to be the correct order in living things..under ideal conditions in labs with every possible advantage we know of...then zapped them with every catalyst we can think of from chemicals to heat to electricity to radiation...you name it...and even with every possible advantage in perfectly sterile labs not once has man been able to create a living thing from inanimate ingredients. Never. Ever . Yet many believe this not only already happened accidentally on its own...but also that the presumably single celled organism then evolved to become the millions and millions of different plants and even more animals....by pure chance with no directions from anything/anyone. It all simply happened accidentally. To believe that takes an incredible amount of faith.

My belief is easier. Even as a small child before i ever went to church i noticed that the smallest things in our universe...atoms...with a big nucleus in the center and electrons orbiting it...looked just like the biggest things we were taught about...our solar system. The huge Sun had these tiny planets that orbited it just like that tiny nucleus had electrons. Made good sense when i later learned that the same God designed and created them both. Same designer....same design. Made sense even to a child that they would look the same.

The trillions and trillions of perfectly aligned proteins that have to accidentally form double helix shaped DNA and then magically spring to life on a barren rock hurtling through empty space? That seems both illogical and much much harder for me to believe...and i didnt become a Christian until 2003 as a young adult. Was not raised in church or ever forcefed any ideologies. Been fortunate enough to travel a lot in the US abd seen some amazing places from the badlands to redwoods...grand canyon to the Tetons..the mighty Mississippi and the paradise of the virgin islands and Cozumel Mexico...in ALL that beauty i never once thought " wow...look how amazing this accidentally happened. "

I thought " Wow...look how amazing Gods creation is...just here on tiny little Earth."

To me that is logical...thankfully I am not alone in my beliefs. These beautiful things are better seen and shared with others who thank God for them as I do.

Anyway....wrote another novel. Thanks for the discussion and as always GO VOLS.

I think you may be oversimplifying much of this in an attempt to show how improbable it is. However, it doesn't seem to me to be any more probable that some celestial being designed all of this and then poofed it into existence. Christians often think they don't need to explain how God could do this because he's God, but if that's the case then why do atheists need to explain how it happened naturally? Why not just leave it at "all things are possible through nature"? That's really no different than what Christians do.

But what I tried to point out in the previous post was that in an attempt to not have to explain the origins of God, people have decided to claim that he's spaceless, timeless, and immaterial. Problem is, that contradicts what the Bible says about creation and how God interacts with it. So it's not even an issue of improbability but requires an explanation for how it doesn't result in a contradiction.

Solid post bud. I respect your opinion and beliefs. I dont have all the answers and am certain that there are some questions that i cannot honestly and factually answer about Christianity...and i am OK with that. There is a lot of freedom in admitting that I do not have all the answers like God does. We like to pat eachother on the back a lot as humans, but it many ways we are ignorant and infantile...just figuring things out the best that we can. I hope you find peace and contentment as we learn along the way. Some of the recent advances in science and medicine specifically are fascinating. Go Vols
