Interesting critique of Joe Milton's progression by former Tennessee quarterback Jonathan Crompton

Look at Milton, Beasley, Fant, Mitchell and others who did not click immediately but keep on improving with playing time, development and confidence. McCullough could be a key man next season as well - just see what happens. Joe Milton could be the second consecutive transfer qb that Josh Heupel has turned into a Heisman contender in 2 years. That will be something to see. Crompton is a prime example of perseverance and becoming a star in his final season of eligibility. I also appreciate guys like Solon Page III that provide key experienced depth and give their best each week contributing much to the team's success.
Hope you are right We need McCullough and Hadden to make big strides. I just don't have confidence that Martinez can get them where they are capable of going.

How about these stats?
  • 42 completions on 61 attempts (69%)
  • 6 TDs and 0 INTs.
  • 5 of those completions for over 50 yards & 2 for over 60 yards
  • 72 yards rushing on 7 attempts

That was Milton's regular season total through 6 games excluding Vanderbilt when it was pouring rain. Bazooka Joe looked really solid in the Orange Bowl, but it wasn't the only good thing he did this past season.

Granted, it's a small sample set and in some cases against lesser competition, but that doesn't change the fact that the ball was being put where our receivers needed it to make plays.

Eh, I don't see much in her. We have Jimmy's daughter, who SHOULD have been on GameDay...

I don't see much in her either. She can't even get enough votes to speak in her own house. Must be seriously lacking in sit appeal.

On the season, including the Orange Bowl, Milton completed 53 out of 82 passes (64.6%) for 971 yds. and an insane average of 11.8 yds./attempt , 10 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. Obviously, he did not have any attempts to qualify, but his 204.3 passing efficiency rating would have led the nation by almost 27 points. Stroud for Ohio State finished first on the category, just over 2 points ahead of Hooker, who finished 2nd officially. I get tired of the "ceiling" fans tend to assign to players. When you're playing 1.5 to 2 quarters a week, you better ******* throw for NO LESS than a grand, and should be closer to 1500 in our offensive scheme. People act like he's the second coming of Manning, yet the guy only got the job back due to injury and isn't promised it with a freshman QB coming in that got reps in the bowl practice. That tells us the coaching staff sees something in Nico, and he very well may earn the starting position next year.
Milton didn't play anything close to an average of a quarter and a half a game this season.

Milton may not have the "Best" arm in the country. Due to the absolute strength behind his throws. But man there is no denying he has the most explosive arm in the country. I think having that kinda of talent. He will over throw some guys. But if he throws the ball like he did in the Orange bowl every week we will be fine. Im sure Halzle will coach him up to throw it in the upper deck of the stadium if no WR is open. I dont think they wanted him to scramble a whole lot due to noone backing him up. Happy for Milton, Happy for this team finishing what they started. This season has been a long time coming. Proud to be a Vol!! Cant wait for next season!
