A blind pig will occasionally find an acorn. I said runs.

I'd be willing to bet that Foster gets at least 2 60-70 yard runs this season if he stays healthy.

I figured that when you guessed 67.

Tennessee UNIT RANKINGS From Steele's Mag.
Quarterbacks- 24th
Wide Receivers- 20th
Defensive Line- 13th
Defensive Backs- 14th

Bowl Prediction: Capitol One Bowl vs. Iowa.....losing to Auburn in the SEC CG whom he has in the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME against Oklahoma.

I hope he's right about us being in the SECCG. As for Auburn, 12 games in a row with no off week. This factor alone will keep Aubie from running the west.
It is just too hard to maintain quality depth for that many consecutive weeks.

Do you think his running style is comparable to Shawn Alexander? I'd watch Alexander and think man this guy is slow, he outta be playing FB.....that is until you watch the yards pile up play after play. Is raw speed the least needed weapon of a running back considering vision, balance, and low center of gravity?

I think that is a good comparison, as far as style. I think he is a good back, but he piled up most of his yards at the end of the season against our weaker opponents. I do worry about his speed. Hope he is as good as people are predecting him to be.

yeah but we got speed guys in coker and hardesty. im still not sure that foster will take over 50% of the snaps. thats not saying im downing foster i just think the other backs are just as good maybe better. hardesty is the total package, he has speed and decent power and coker can just fly.

Speed isn't everything when it comes to running backs.

I think Foster has plenty of speed, he's just patient finding the running room and you'd have to be with 8 or 9 guys in the box like last season.

If you go back and watch him run on tape, he chews up a lot of yards per stride. I think he's one of those backs that looks slow but is really moving pretty fast.

The only thing that might have slowed him down last year other than the knee and shoulder injuries would be the conditioning. He seemed to get pretty tired by the 3rd of the 4th. Not that I blame him. It must have been exhausting to be the only one offense capable of making plays.

I can't wait to see him healthy with another year of conditioning under his belt. From what his mother says, he's been working really hard. Should be fun.

i know but im just saying that we got a nice mix of styles to mix up in the course of a game. a workhorse, an allaround back and a speedster. and all of them are underclassmen

I hope you're right. I have yet to see Coker play and we all know what happened to Hardesty.

When he hurt his knee, was that his first carry as a Vol?

Well he didn't have many. I remember being excited to see what he could do and then off the field he limped.

One thing I'd like to see out of a good UT back is corner speed. I haven't seen a back that can hit the corner well in a while.

i think travis stephens was the last one. we have had big bruisers since him.

i say yancey can do it if he gets enough carries.

Most backs are pretty tired in the 4th quarter when they've already seen over 30 carries. Foster often had a ton of carries per game last year in the games that he started.

Good point. Foster really carried the ball a lot; especially for a true freshman. Plus, he was banged up.
