Investigation effects on recruiting

I'd say huge. An investiGATOR showing up at your door isn't going to inspire you with confidence. The NY Times notes how unusual it is for the NCAA to do this during this time period. That means one of two things to me. Either they're convinced they have us, or they're complete idiots that just royally messed us over. I'm hoping for option two but know we're screwed no matter what.

Now I'm hearing from my super secret sources (SSS) that it could be as much as 85%.

I hope you're right and that I'm wrong, but it's hard for me to imagine this not effecting recruiting. Hopefully I'm just being paranoid.

Even if we are guilty, this is a secondary violation anyway, correct? We cannot be put on probation for this can we? If so, this is ridiculous and the timing is unfreaking-believable!!

I am so sick of the NCAA's investigations, they completely f'd Memphis and now they are threatening Memphis that if they successfully appeal the sanctions for the D Rose SAT/Calipari fiasco, then the infractions' committee will re-evaluate the original punishment and could decide they were too lenient and impose further punishment. Basically, twisting Memphis' arm to drop the appeal because public opinion has swung against their original decision and the more info that comes out the less fair their decision appears to be, being that their clearinghouse cleared the SAT score to begin with and then come back after the season is over and say that because the SAT score was invalidated Memphis was at fault. They said themseleves that there is no evidence Memphis had any knowledge of D Rose's SAT situation at all, so how can they lose an entire season for something that the NCAA originally cleared themselves to begin with. Dont doubt Calipari knew the deal but, if so, he should be sanctioned, not Memphis.

I just dont trust the NCAA after this garbage and now they are messing with my beloved Vols too!!! Suspicious timing seems to me.

You mean VT. But I doubt it affects us much if at all. At most one or two commits that were thinking of signing up but we have kids as backups out there.

I agree that Calipari should have gotten something. Now the last two programs he left, UMass and Memphis, have had wins forfeited, yet Caliparii hasn't had any problem.

this is rather minor to me, the investigation seems to have no weight to it.
