NCAA Investigators visiting potential recruits for Tennesse or any other University is an attempt to alter their choices. The NCAA should be sued by the University for tampering in recruiting and trying to devert potential athletes from signing with Tennessee. The N 300 pound Gorilla has over stepped its bounds this time.
This is simple retaliation toward Lane Kiffin and the University. It is TIME to EXPOSE the NCAA for what it really is.
The NCAA talks a good game about keeping recruiting fair but turn around and do this is totally WRONG>

Yeah, I was thinking along the same lines.

I also think that all the other universities that live in glass houses better look out... Kiffin is not stupid. I hope he goes on the offensive, once our part of this is resolved. I do not know anything that hasn't been reported, and I am not saying there shouldn't be consequences if anything we did was against the rules, but I find it really hard to believe that most other top twenty schools or wannabe's aren't pretty much in the same situation.

Again, whether any rules were violated or not, it is even obvious from the way this story was written that the NYT is being used by someone with ulterior motives. I know there is a bunch of Bammers that seem to never forgive people for the fact that they got what they deserved in the past.

Can someone post for the record, how many minor violations that of SEC and top twenty football schools have had in the last 12 months?

If thats true somebody needs to be fired. I HIGHLY doubt the veracity of that statement.

Kiffin - "X, you take my credit card and the other 'hostesses' and show them boys from Brynes a good time!"

That dog don't hunt.

Dude i'm not trying to start anything, just what I read on another forum. It's bad for the kids, UT and the SEC for the "world" to think SEC football is made up of cheats, thugs and pimps. http://www.volnation.com/forum/tenn...see-under-ncaa-investigation-over-use-51.html

The credit card thing was made up by that caller. They reported on the show a few minutes later that he called back and apoligized for making it up.

Anonymous people who called into radio shows are not in any shape or form legimitate sources on information.

Anyone who has worked in an AD's office in the past, like myself, knows it is absolutely 100% impossible for a student to ever use an athletic department member's credit card. No coach or administrator would ever be so stupid to do something like that.

florida has enough worries of their own.YOU AND THE OTHER TROLLS dont need to worry about UT.:hi:
I'm not worried about UT this is bigger than UT, UF and Bama...hell the whole SEC should be worried because this is coming from "BIG brother". Schools watch the coaches and players, Sec watches the schools, players and coaches and Yes, NCAA watches everyone. No one has say over the NCAA so if you think this is about trolling or UT get over yourself. Remember part of the reason we have Conference USA besides the economics was the wide spread corruption of the former Great Midwest Confernce in basketball (Cincy, Memphis and Depaul) not saying that this could happen because of this but it could be the start of changes in the way the SEC conducts recruiting.

The more I hear about this situation the less worried I am.

This is sounding more and more like a secondary violation at best.

Unless they can prove the school sent the hostess to the HS or asked them to maintain contact the school will probably not have any violation other then a minor secondary for not monitoring the activities better.

The real concern is with the recruits. If the NCAA believes that the hostesses were acting as a representative of the school, the NCAA could prohibit these recruits from attending UT. The NCAA has already done this with recruits from other conferences. Members of a fan club who wore school sweatshirts to a local HS game and talked to a recruit made that recruit ineligble to attend that school. It is considered improper contact if a representative of the university makes contact outside the legal recruiting guidelines.

The reason for the timing is because some of these prospects are set to enroll early for the spring semester. If the NCAA finds this violation they will have to do it before these players enroll to prohibit them from enrolling. Once they have enrolled I do not believe the NCAA can make them change schools. I do not know every recruit involved but if they are talking directly to the recruits during the investigation I would think that the NCAA believes something is wrong. Also remember these recruits will not do anything to jeapordize their eligibility.

This is the only part I am worried about...

The article said they went to see the Byrnes boys in sept but it doesn't give a specific date....Miller and Willis committed on the 13th...

if they went after the 13th than it can be spun as lack of monitoring as stated by tidewarrior....but if it was before the 13th... how would the hostesses know that we are recruiting them that hard?? hence direction from the coaches...

I was saying that from the get-go. It's pretty obvious due to the timing what is going on. The big bad boys of the NCAA are coming down on smug Lane Kiffin to make a point. Some of those guys aren't paid unless they are investigating something.

If they do something here, they will have to penalize many more schools than just UT.

Chris Low likes to pump up all things negative involved with UT to try to prove that he's a "real" journalist and not a homer because he lives here.
