Investigation effects on recruiting

IT's funny what happens when we have one weekend to sit around and not watch UT play. Everybody gets all crazy and starts considering suicide of the program. 3 more weeks guys, chill out. This investigation is bogus. We will be ok. We won't even drop out of the top 10 of recruiting classes. So put down your loaded pistols, come down from the ledge, and go have your stomach pumped before the pills take effect, it's going to be ok.

Some of you guys really need to think about smoking the ganja, mellow out a little, maybe listen to some Bob Marley and youtube some awesome EB highlights, that always makes me feel good.

I don't think we can overestimate the seriousness of this offense.

I heard the boys from Brynes were so turned off by have hotties cheering for them that Willis and Miller have started recruiting our entire class to go to Bama. They want everyone to know that going to a school where all the coeds are butt ugly is their primary focus.

Could this be a small part of the coaches leaving? I realize they probably received pay raises, etc., but could this be serious enough to encourage departure?

Doubtful, CFW went to a school that is accused of paying a player. LSU will likely be hit much harder. That is much more serious than what UT is accused of. They are leaving for the money and better positions.

I would say that it is very poor journalism to use UTs number of secondary violations as a reason while failing to notice that the number is hardly out of line with other SEC schools.

Lane Kiffin has become the Tiger Woods of the NCAA coaches ..... I do NOT mean that as a bad thing either.... He is so popular with recruits that the NCAA would love see him fail. The timing of this, in their speaking to recruits BEFORE the Feb. signing date is evidence of that fact. We will be ok with recruits.... Lane's the man

Much to do about nothing.

Will pass as a no event.

Secondary violation (if it's even a violation at all) and that's it.

How in the heck is this even a secondary? I mean we could all go out and hold up Florida Gator signs at high school games, would there be a penalty there? Whoever orchestrated this is really smart but a total douche. It casts us in a bad light with investigators going into recruits' houses, and it gives us one more thing to deal with other than recruiting and a bowl game to prepare for. An NCAA investigation during peak recruiting for a damn sign being held up at a game, tell me this doesn't stink to high heaven.

I think the secondary violation would be the hostesses going to the games. It will probably be hard to prove they went on their own. They probably will just issue a repremand about keeping the hostesses at the campus. The negative publicity is the more damaging part to this I think than the penalty. Imagine what parents think when NCAA investigators are talking to their kids before they even get to the college. I think that was the intent of all this, not the penalty part.

So much for Latimore, huh Sab? All the more reason for other schools to recruit negative against us. "CLK is reckless, uninformed, and desperate" blah blah. I for one am getting tired of hearing about stuff like this, and it's not b/c 'the man' has it in for UT.

well if anything does come out can miller and willis still come to ut???

Yes. It is a secondary violation at the most. I dont think Tennessee has much to worry about.

Lattimore is the one who may have something to worry about if more info about this continues to come out.

NCAA Investigators visiting potential recruits for Tennesse or any other University is an attempt to alter their choices. The NCAA should be sued by the University for tampering in recruiting and trying to devert potential athletes from signing with Tennessee. The N 300 pound Gorilla has over stepped its bounds this time.
This is simple retaliation toward Lane Kiffin and the University. It is TIME to EXPOSE the NCAA for what it really is.
The NCAA talks a good game about keeping recruiting fair but turn around and do this is totally WRONG>

on espn the nyt writer came on and said "UT has had a TON of recruiting violations thus far"

is 6 secondary violations "a TON?"
isn't this typical of many if not most D-1 programs?
or am I just plain ignant?

Not a ton but when you want people to believe your story and your angle you exaggerate the facts. I think other SEC schools have as much as more. Why tell about them and make your story less important? You have to have the biggest story if you are a writer.
