That is what I was suspecting. Great reason to vote for someone!!!!

As much as I get tired of listening to Limbaugh sometimes, he actually made a good point about this today saying that Populism has gotten out of control on both sides.

the difference being, I enjoyed with his speaking and agreed with most of what he was saying. I figured someone would make the Hitler reference sooner or later though.

Off topic, if any of you haven't listened to him, Dan Carlin has a pretty good podcast and he did a spectacular hour on Hitler and his rise to power, and Nazism in general. It can be found here Dan Carlin -- News, Politics, and History

That's what I thought of when I read this . . .

. . . but I didn't want to equate the two.

Come on, the Germans from that era across the board said it wasn't what he said but how he said it.

No I am not making Obama out to be Hitler............

I think it just proves the power of the speech.

It amazes me that people would select a candidate based on how they delivery a speech over what the message is within a speech.

A classic case of style over substance.

Populism is back because of what is in the news. It always pops up when you see dreary news about the economy, bloated government, corruption, and news of corporate greed. See 1992 for another good example - Buchanan within the GOP and Perot in the middle. Bloomberg is licking his chops and may even hope establishment candidates make a comeback to give himself a reason and a pathway to run.

There are still many who vote based on looks, last name origins, first name on the ballot, etc. Just as there are people who would not vote for someone from a minority group solely on gender or skin color. Or those who vote on one single issue. The right to vote was never dependent on having to use sound judgment or logic to use it.

Bloomberg has to be looking at Romney right now and be somewhat gun shy. No one doubts that these two guys have the money behind them, but do they have charisma or a theme?

I think he runs if it is Hillary and Rudy or Mitt. If it is the "independent" types like Huck and Obama, he has to stay out.

I have to give some major props to Obama for two things that are against conventional wisdom - he turned out massive amounts of the young voters AND turned out first time caucus goers. Neither one of these have ever been achieved even at a quarter of the level he accomplished. Rare moments of inspiring these two groups occur but to actually get them to show up is something no one has yet mastered. Congrats on lighting this fire and proving CW wrong. Seeing this makes me believe he would be difficult to defeat in November.
