Is is correct to assume that:
Conservatives want a country where the government is small and not involved in the private lives of citizens except when it comes to issues in the bedroom (gay marriage).
and
Liberals want a country where the government is large and involved in many other aspects of the private lives of citizens but not involved with issues in the bedroom.
and this is why they should be allowed to get married. there are legal rights married couples have than non married ones do not.
Separate but equal? I've heard of the concept. Wonder if it has worked in the past?
Most people dont get married to have benefits. I got married to start a family and have children.
Hell no.
Make a legal union between a man and a woman or a man and a man or a woman and a woman all the same thing legally.
It doesn't make sense, in a country where religious freedom is touted, that straight married couples get legal advantages.
Make it all the same in the eyes of the law and let God sort them out when it's time for him to do so.
That's my take on it.

you couldn't have stared a family and had children without getting legally married? why bother to get the marriage certificate? why not just get married in the church if it's all about religion and the legal part doesn't matter?
Most people either get married for the tax break or accidentally started a family and try to cover it up under the guise of marriage. Then they find out they can't stand each other and end it. See the 50% divorce rate.
I was raised, like the vast majority of people, that you dont have kids unless you are married and if you do, the responsible thing to do is marry the woman you got pregnant.
