Why do you get so mad?

I'm just telling you why. You dont have to believe that. Its just as much as your right to not believe in the bible as it is for others to believe.

Just as you dont want Christians to push their views on society, is the same way some Christians feel about some in society pushing their views on them.

if we are basing what we make law on the bible than clearly i do have to believe that the bible is relavant.

no one is pushing their views on you. gays getting married has nothing to do with you.

I think it became a legal issue to keep fathers from marrying daughters, sister and brothers, and such as that.

That raises another issue. Do you stop with Gays?

What if people want to start marrying brother/ sisters, fathers/daughters, mothers/sons?

Why is that any different?
Where and why do you draw the line?

This argument is so unbelievably stupid, it's not even fun to laugh at.

How is it different? Because incest is considered wrong and sick, by both the religious and secular world. It's every bit as deplorable as bestiality.

Where do you draw the line? When two human beings who aren't blood related can love one another. There, I did your job for you.

Well, I will tell you why

Because the Bible, which most of us try and live by says that marriage is between a man and a woman.

This same Bible is also why its against the law to steal, murder, rape, pillage, plunder, and just commit outright anarchy. Mans laws are based in part on Gods laws.

You mean "most of us God-fearing Southerners?" There were laws and morals established by civilizations that predate the Bible by many, many years. Man's laws are based solely on rules that help us maintain daily lives so that we may not negatively interfere with one another. The Bible just takes it up a notch and adds a God-fueled agenda to it.

Just as you dont want Christians to push their views on society, is the same way some Christians feel about some in society pushing their views on them.

Your arguments are getting weaker by the post.

How is a world with legal gay marriage, marijuana, and abortion pushing ANYTHING on anybody?

Is secular society going to hold you down, light up a spliff, and shove it in your mouth?

Is secular society going to force you down the aisle to marry Lance Bass?

Is secular society going to mandate that your significant other aborts her child?

There's not sh*t being forced on anybody. This is a widely supported effort to make certain liberties available to those who wish to exercise them.

To quote Aries Spears/Debra Wilson from Mad TV: "And I'm through!"

Not long ago, Homosexuality was considered just as sick and immoral, least we forget.

How do you know this? Did you live then? Did someone teach you this? Are you going by this based on books?

Surely those books could be as wrong as you believe the bible is?

I didnt say anything about MJ or abortion, thats two other topics

Again, why so mad?

so your argument is that it's possible that before the bible got written that people were a ok with murder, rape, etc? correct?

Totes mcgoats, droski. I think that's exactly what he's saying.

the other huge gap in logic here is that the bible is one book while there are thousands of piece of evidence documenting punishment for all sorts of crimes before christ.

Didn't you get the memo? You can pick and choose what the Bible says to better fit your prerogative.

Another note, you can champion yourself with the bible in your hand without knowing much about it :O

Some churches do.

I am thankful mine is one. Unfortunately many do not. And more than I think many care to admit. Visited my church where I grew up this weekend. I was half saddened and half furious at some of the stuff the pastor said.

If Adam and Eve were the first to people on the planet, then they would have to be the two that started populating the planet. So after Adam and Eve procreated like bunnies, they would either have to procreate with their kids or their kids would have to procreate with each other to keep the civilization alive...

The 10 Commandments were covered under the Old Testament. All those books written before the birth of Christ

Yeah, so was lynching blacks and burning witches. Yet another bunk point. NEXT!

Mesopotamia never existed. You're right. Code of Hammurabi? Total bull. Let's go ahead and say dinosaurs are a fairy tale, too.

The point clearly went over your head, but fine.

Would secular society force you to walk down the aisle and marry Lance Bass?

Why am I so mad? Because many people with YOUR world view go out and vote against things like this for STUPID reasons.

and there were entire civilizations that had never heard of the 10 commandments that had laws against killing people. this is an absurd argument.

so? you still seem to be saying that before the Bible, or the Torah, was written, there were no laws. That's just plain wrong.

Did the gay community not lobby for legislation to be passed to allow for gay marriage? Did they think they would get a law passed without it being voted on by the majority?

God, learn how to multiquote. I learned how to before my 200th post.

You're also ignoring 90% of my post, but we'll just take that as your lacking a logical response.

That's what I'm saying, a large part of the majority vote(s/d) against it because they hold the same archaic views as you. It's all bullsh*t, man.

How do we know that there were laws written before the bible?

None of us were alive. You base that knowledge on what you have been told or have been taught.

Is that information more credible than what Christians have been taught and told for thousands of years?

Yes, because sanskrit, stone tablets, and ancient cities are examples of tangible proof: something half the written Bible lacks.
