iPhone vs. Droid

I have both devices in my home and I prefer the Asus transformer over the ipad2.

Quality of apps is comparable however more are free on android. What sets the android apart is the ability to make my homescreens show whatever I want. Whether a screen of apps ipad style or a screen of weather, email, Facebook, twitter, mint, and knoxnews Widgets. Or a mixture. Or a blank screen with only weather and time Widgets. I feel much more locked down when using the ipad. Like I can only do what it will let me do.

Thats what I have, the Asus Transfomer 32GB. Thinking about dropping the cash on the Prime when it comes out.

I just got mine recently as a bday gift. I have the 16 gb but can't imagine how I'll ever use all that considering I don't keep music on mine. I'm probably going to wait till the hype and backorders die down on the prime. The tf101 models will be getting the ice cream sandwich update soon now that the prime has. Its the quad core processor on the prime that really gets my interest.

I'm gonna give it a few more weeks but right now I'm leaning towards trading for a Droid again. The funny thing is I wanted an iPhone for forever but I've had Verizon for years. My last upgrade, the iPhone wasn't out yet which caused me to go with Droid in the first place.

LOL well then why the hell did you get out of the HTC for an iPhone to start with?

Sorry iphone haters, you're ignorant of technology. And anybody that wants to whine about Flash, there is the Skyfire Browser that not only is the best and fastest browser on the market, but it runs all flash, even the UT streams and others on Firstrowsports.tv

This is like the argument between people who own plasma TVs and the ones who bought those huge rear projection units.... no contest.

Flash would be the least of my concerns about iphones or ipads. The lack of expandable storage sucks. Being stuck with stock home screen layouts sucks. Not having live updating widgets sucks. The fact that I can see my daily schedule, email, bank account balance, Facebook feed, knoxnews feed, and weather forecast all from one homescreen without opening a single app is worth the android experience alone. Like I said in previous posts, I have both operating systems in use at my home. No doubt ios is smooth and functions well, it just puts so many senseless limits to what you can do. For use as a toy and for the "cool" factor, iphones and ipads are great devices. For making a device work for you rather than playing with what's given, android is the way to go. people are gonna always go ape when new Apple products come out and will defend their superiority because apple made it. Nothing I can say will ever change that.

I don't want my bank account, email, or any of that private stuff on my home screen. Seems pretty stupid to have that readily available if you happen to misplace your phone. To get weather widget or get email & the rest you mentioned is a simple adjustment to notifications & a swipe down. Email, texts, facebook, twitter, etc etc can show up as alerts on the homescreen & opened with a swipe. That's gotta be a huge inconvenience I know. If it wasn't for the "cool" Apple "toys" droid would probably be non existent or at least years behind. Apple gave them something to shamelessly copy & throw in a couple of their own bells & whistles. As for media storage who needs more than 64gb on a phone.

Remember guys, if cc doesn't need or a want a particular feature then there's no way it's an advantage or a possible reason to prefer Android.

As far as I'm concerned there are two kinds of people; Cricket users and filthy communists who have no pride in themselves.

I guess if you want an unsecure phone flashing all your personal info go for the android. You can have the fragmentation crap too. The android way isn't necessarily better it's just different probably because it has to be. You can only copy so much. Take your 4 inch screen with horrible battery life & shaky OS & have fun. Play with the pretty screensavers & widgets & make sure you have a charger in your pocket at all times. LOL.

I personally have always liked the droid better, but I do have to admit i like the iphone's marketplace a alot better. to me its easier to navigate and a larger selection.

Thank you for your concern over my homepage. Luckilyfor me I know how to lock my phone on startup, lock each app with passwords, and locate/wipe my phone remotely. your point about being able to check weather email texts etc with a swipe is true, but you have to swipe for each one. That means you have to open four or five different apps to see what an Android will show you without opening any apps and by the time you open all those apps it has indeed become an inconvenience compared to the android. I also agree with you that if apple had not put out the original iphone, android would not be anywhere close to what it is now. However, we're not talking about which devices came first.. We're talking about which is better now. And for your storage argument. No one will need more than 64gb on a phone. That is not the benefit of external storage. With external storage options your able to easily and securely move data from one device to another. I know you can use cloud services for this, but an external memory card eliminates that step and can also be used without Internet connection. As far as battery life, I charge my phone each night and rarely have problems with it dying during the day. It's not great battery life, but I use it hard through day and it usually gives me no problems.

My samsung galaxy has a larger screen than the iphone 4s. The fact that the home screen is not customizable like an android is annoying as shat.

Also, nothing like having a $400 phone that wont make phone calls because you have to hold your hand in a certain position that doesn't block the antennae. Apple fix? Buy a case for it? LOL

the level of ownership in here, over a cell phone, is unfathomable to me. It's a damn cell phone.

I have an iPhone too but you are acting like such an elitist it is sickening. Droids aren't complete garbage like you are trying to make them seem.

I agree. It's just that for some reason Apple turns their buyers into a David Koresh style cult that will never admit Apple has done something they didn't like.

Well, I love my android and it does eveything for me. It makes GPS's obsolete. also, being a part-time artist, I have to do a lot of sales over the phone. Being able to swipe or run a credit card on the fly is very valuable to me. Everyone has different needs.

This is definitely the most annoying part. They are both inctedible machines. For those saying they would never need those features on a phone, dmartphones are no longer "phones" the calling feature on my phone may be the third or fourth most used feature on my phone.

People want and pay for the best. Verizon knew the Iphone is a better product, thats why they are paying absurd amounts for them. AT&T isnt making multi-billion$ decisions for Droids.

I don't buy that reasoning. There are many loyal iPhone users who would not switch to Android even if it was hypothetically a "better" operating system. Verizon wants those people too. iPhone's are big business. So is Android. The only thing better than having one of them is having both. I am perfectly content with my iPhone 4, but I wouldn't have switched carriers for it.

You're really reaching if you're talking about a moot antenna issue. The iPhone homescreen is easily customizable. The lock screen is limited to notifications, date/time, wallpaper.
