iPhone vs. Droid

Isn't Blackberry on its last leg? That look is considered so ancient now. I know it's probably the best "business/work" phone of all time, but people want big touch screen displays now and last time I checked RIM doesn't have a huge app store. Jmo though.

Blackberry's app store was one of the big reasons I switched to iPhone. They also like to get really hot and laggy for no reason.

Do they still have an advantage in the area of IT security? I figure there's a reason you still can't bring a Blackberry into a number of countries in the world. I figured that would coincide with a still-high rate of market share in the business sector for RIM.

But, you guys are generally right. BB OS are terrible.

If BB isn't on it's last leg it has to be close. They have a nice OS called BBX that is modern and on par with other platforms, but it's not even ready for prime time yet,and honestly it should've been out a year (or more) ago to stop the bleeding and turn things around. I think it may be too late in the game but you never know Apple was broke in the late 90's and even made a deal with MS letting them invest 150 million in stocks,so I guess anything can happen.

Problem is BB doesn't have a Steve Jobs, heck they don't even have a Steve Ballmer. Jim Balsilie is an idiot.

RIM has definitely been many steps behind apple and google for years.

Makes you wonder what they're thinking. They will have to deal with Microsoft Windows 8 mobile phone in the near future cutting into it's shrinking numbers even more.

Apple is already cutting into BB's business sector.

How did u get the ut icons.. And can verizon be jailbroke

Any iPhone can be jailbroke you just have to use the proper jailbreak tool for your phone & firmware. The jaibreak steps may be a little different for each as well. If you have a 4S you need to use absinthe. I jailbroke my daughter's 3GS with redsn0w.

I have a verizon iphone 4.

Are you running the latest version 5.0.1? If so you need to use redsn0w. Just google untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4 running your firmware. I got the link I used but it wasn't untethered. Guess the redsn0w version wasnt the latest. To make it untethered you just need too download corona from cydia first thing after the jail break.

Basically you download the program & extract it to the desktop. Then run it as administrator. Then window will pop up & you click jailbreak. Then plug the phone in to pc & power off. After its off put in DFU mode. Do that by holding the lock & home button exactly 10 seconds. After 10 seconds release the lock button & continue holding home button for about 15 seconds & the jailbreak will kick in. Now just wait & everything will take care of itself. Be sure to make sure you have corona from cydia first thing. If not you will have to connect to pc every time you reboot your phone.

Oh yea be sure to backup phone in iTunes just to be safe first thing. Disable the auto run in iTunes when you plug in device as well. Think it's under the edit tab then preferences then click on the device icon. Check top box I believe.

Well...I have been thinking about changing over to iPhone, but a lot of what I've been reading and discussed with friends now has me leaning toward just updating my Droid. I noticed that the Motorola Droid Maxx uses Gingerbread and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus uses Ice Cream Sandwich. What's the difference? I think I am down to these two...

Also, my wife wants to upgrade her phone, but doesn't put music on hers and won't use nearly as much of the web as I do. Any advice on a lesser-expensive Android device for her?

Off topic..... My sons ipod touch has been missing for about 2 years. It turned up today. we can't remember the pass word and are now locked out. It says we have to sink with itunes to unlock it. when we try that it says we have to put in the pass word to continue. Is there any way to wipe it and start over or do I have to take it to an apple store?

Open iTunes & plug iPod in. What you wanna do is put it in dfu mode. Do this by holding the home button & the lock button for 10 seconds exactly. Without letting go of the home button release the lock button & hold home button for another 10-15 seconds (ignore the slide to power off on the screen). A box should pop up & you should be able to restore.
