iPhone vs. Droid

The iPhone 4/4S is not a 4G phone, that is a marketing ploy by ATT. It is the way AT&T’s HSPA+ network detects and identifies itself.

It is capable of reaching lower 4G speeds. I can get 6-7mbs on a good day & always average around 4mbs at least.

LOL.

Keep eating the line they are feeding you.

I didn't buy it for 4G I bought it because it was the best. 6mbs is plenty fast for me & should be for just about anybody. I guess you can use your data up faster on 4G is all I can see. Hspa+ or 4G lte who cares. 3G was fine by me. They can call it whatever they want.

iSheep - "iPhone is better at everything"
fanDroid - "4G is faster than 3G"
iSheep - "oh, that doesn't matter, 3G is good enough"

iSheep - "this notification center, banner pull down thingy is soooooo cool; better than whatever your Droid has I'm sure"
fanDroid - "1) 'Droid' is a line of Motorola phones, not all Android phones are Droids, 2) the Android OS has been using that since version 1.6......and that came out a handful of years ago"
iSheep - "well, uh, erm, Steve Jobs, Siri, reti - SIRI! You don't have Siri :p"
*opens up siri*
"Siri, don't you think the iPhone is better than an android phone?"
Siri - "I cannot understand your request."
fanDroid - "here's your link: Motorola vs. Siri: Android Voice Actions Better Than iPhone's Siri? (VIDEO) "
iSheep - "but Google Droidy won't call you 'rock god'"
fanDroid - [facepalm]

iSheep - "man this retina display is the most amazing thing ever; so much better than your Droid"
fanDroid - "my Android phone has a bigger screen (4.65" of Super AMOLED HD goodness) and a higher resolution (720x1280 to 640x960)"
iSheep - "that's too big for my hands"
fanDroid - "it fits in mine just fine"
iSheep - "I bet it causes the battery life to suck"
fanDroid - "you got me there, the massive screen does drag down battery capabilities-"
iSheep - "HAH!"
fanDroid - "-but, I keep a spare battery in my bag in case I'm not going to be around a charger for a while"
iSheep - "I wish I could do that..."
iSheep - "I also wish I could replace some of these stock apps with 3rd party apps, or put them somewhere I could get to them quickly....maybe let me have a customized homescreen or two, with only the apps I want showing....oooh, and apps that are bigger than normal apps, and they can do things without you having to open them"
fanDroid - "You mean widgets?"
iSheep - "yes! Wait, what's a widget?"
fanDroid - "it looks like you want to make your own choices. Would you like to switch to Android?"
iSheep - "Android makes an iPhone now?!?"

-----and scene :hi:

^^^If you were offended by the above, have a sense of humor; it was written in jest :neener2: :)

It's :bed_time: so I'm :gone:

The only thing I read was the bold in the quote. What is it you do that requires more than 6mbs? You can stream music, videos, download & browse super fast with far less speed than that. There's a lot of 4G owners that never even see 6mbs. The iPhone is the best device hands down. Adding gimmicks & bigger screens doesn't change what something is. It's funny to listen to the droid guys talk like droid is so complex & iPhone is for simpletons. Lol.

They both have their positives, getting all torn up over someone not bowing down to the iPhone is dumb.

I don't know anything that can be done on a droid that I can't do on my iPhone. I just don't have the gimmicky bigger screen. A 4" screen would be ok but over that & it's just a gimmick.

Maybe some people prefer the big screen? I had the Motorola droid and loved it. It was easy to customize and I liked having an actual keyboard. I have an iPhone now and the battery life is much better and it never locks up. Some people just like droid better, it's not a big deal.

Most - key emphasis on most - droid users that prefer droids over the iPhone haven't owned both phones and usually have a brand agenda when it comes to phones. I was an iPhone hater until I bought one.

It's also not good to compare an old gen to a new gen... Say a droid user has the first droid eris or something for several years then becomes an instant iPhone fan boi after switching to a 4S... Basically thinking its so awesome when a lot of that is due solely to the technology advances in that time. Really only fair to make a judgement if you've used two recent phones of both brands.

Just out of curiosity, how big is your TV? Anything over 26" is gimmicky.

I think a horse is plenty fast, why would anyone need to go faster, thats just gimmicky.

I think both phones are great, but its like I tell people all the time, buy and use whichever phone suits your needs best. It just annoys me when people say "(insert phone) is the best phone on the market, hands down and its not even close".

You love your iPhone. You would have children with it if you could. We all get that. Cool. Can you just admit that other people have opinions and taste that differ from your own and that they can love their devices without stepping on your opinion of yours?

Your iPhone meets all your needs. Its the perfect phone/ fit for your lifestyle. Love it. Caress it. But you don't have to try and make everyone else have the same unhealthy love affair with the iPhone. Its OK. It doesn't take away from your iPhone if someone likes an android device better.

If someone likes the android better - its simple - they've never owned an iPhone - or Steve Jobs slept with thier mom and/or wife before he died.

If I were trolling - you would have taken the bait and I would have already made you give me 5 infractions out of embarrassment.

When my contract came up on my old Blackberry, I played with an iPhone as well as some Android devices before making my decision. No, I didn't own an iPhone, but I did use one to make my purchasing decision.

Before deciding to purchase my latest Android device, I again spent a little time with an iPhone to make sure that I really wanted to buy the Galaxy Nexus rather than a 4s. While I was relatively impressed with the 4s, my familiarity with Android coupled with all the research I had done on the GN made the decision a no-brainer.

And before you ascertain that Steve Jobs slept with my mother, I will say this: if that happened, cancer wouldn't have been what killed him, lol. :gun:

Lol. What a dumb post. I don't carry a tv in my pocket or a horse. It's not about getting a phone to suit your your needs. Talk & text is all you need & any phone does that. Long story short the iPhone does that & everything else better. Hardware & software is better. 1 or 2 droids compare simply because they try to 1 up the iPhone after its release with supposedly better specs. The other hundreds fall way short.

1) Actually, yes it is. Why would I get a phone that does NOT meet my needs?

2) So you know what I need? Are you trying to channel Steve Jobs or something?

3) So you're saying that I only need talk and text, but the iPhone does that AAAAAAND everything else - that I apparently don't need - better? That makes sense... :eek:lol:

4) I bet you liked Windows Vista didn't you?

5) 100% agree that there are more than a few Android devices that are cheaply made and do not compare. But there are definitely more than "1 or 2" Android devices that compare.

6) Isn't the point to continually improve your product in such a way that you retain (and create new) customers? You make it sound like a company should be looked down upon for trying to out-do a rival company. Do you understand how businesses are run?

7) You could have left out "supposedly". Better specs are better specs, nothing supposed about it.

I seriously don't get your disdain for anything not Apple branded. I'm not an Apple person, but I willingly admit they make some really great products, and would be very happy owning a few of them (I would love an iPad or a Macbook Air or Pro). You come across as the type that would rather fall into a pit of razor blades while covered in salt than admit someone other than Apple makes a decent product or has a good idea.

I don't have a brand agenda - if Apple came out with a more open OS that I could have the freedoms that I do with the Android OS, I would be very interested in giving it a shot. Same goes with the new Windows Phone. I think I would enjoy having that as my daily driver.

Just because Android is my favorite, that doesn't mean that there are no others. I can still appreciate and enjoy others. Why can't you?

While I would definitely consider myself a power user, I was just trying to say that talk and text is NOT all that I need. My Android can do plenty that your iPhone can't:
  • Alternate keyboard
  • Widgets
  • Custom launchers
  • Removable battery
  • Custom ROMs
  • The ability to install a non market applications
  • Flash
  • True integration of Google services such as Google Voice and Google Maps/Navigation
  • Ability to replace default app with 3rd party app
  • Automation with Tasker
[forgive me if this list is inaccurate, iOS5 may have introduced some of these features]

Roms are needed because droids vary so much. Everything else I have. The last sentence is what droid guys say to think they're smarter. You forget there are millions of iPhone owners who jailbreak & can pick & choose virtually anything they want to add to their phone. Add that to the superior OS & droid is nothing but a bigger wannabe iPhone like it has been for years. Oh yea the iPhone has a removable battery it's just not covered by a piece of plastic.
