iPhone vs. Droid

well it's already more popular so that's the first step. Open source will always beat the locked down version in the end. Many will say it already does but I know how you want to stay away from subjective analysis

There's a thing called jailbreaking that opens up the phone to do just about anything.

I'm probably in the minority but I really don't about how long the battery life is for a phone as long as it lasts an entire day. I'm going to charge it up at night anyway.

Even if it doesn't make it all day long. I'm never that far away from a charger. It's been years since I've had a phone completely die on me, and I've had some awful phones in that time.

Also the whole kevlar back on the razr is silly. It's a disposable mass produced electronic, it doesn't need kevlar. I think it looks gaudy too.

And gorilla glass, they have been using that stuff for years. They used it on the iphone, some other phones, and tablets as well. It's not that big of a deal.

ah I see so droid users are simply iphone users waiting on their contract to expire. Well that explains why android's market share is climbing. Thanks

Do you know how many people don't know jack **** about smart phones and their specs? And just go out and make uneducated choices or let the Verizon salesman with the Apple Vendetta make their choices for their upgrade? Probably well over 75% of smartphone owners are that dumb when it comes to computers.

And AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon still isn't reaching everyone.

You literally hardly ever hear people say they regret switching to the iPhone but you hear it the other way around quite often.

umm that's not open source

they must be part of that 75% you mentioned. If someone gives it a chance they will be fine with an android phone. Of course some only keep it a week, can't figure it out and return it for an iphone. I'd probably put those in your 75% as well

You have used ICS........? Im betting you havent.

Yeah - I can't figure out a droid  after owning one for 3 years.

I'm starting to get pissed about my Droid... I'm not sure if it's the phone it's self or the OS on it, but it gets really sluggish and I have everything turned off that I possibly can and now when it's acting like that when someone calls the answer call button never shows up. I have to let the caller hang up or leave message then I call them back. Anyone else seeing this?

You're high - I'm the biggest computer geek in the history of volnation so my opinion is the most valuable here.

...

I've used and tested every OS in the history of computers.

:eek:lol:

I still haven't figured out how to tell when he's

a) Completely serious
b) Trolling
c) Realizing he's a narcissistic douche and trying to play it off like he was trolling the whole time.

I think it's usually one or two posts in a) before shifting to c)

Then what do you mean by open source?

Do you have it in an Otter Box? If so, that could explain your problems with getting calls. Especially if you have the Incredible. Something with the case blocks the sensors.

Thanks for the feed back, I do not have it in a Otter Box, I don't have it in any kind of case. I do have th Incredile II. I think I'll just take it in and ask it they can take a look at it.

Are you gonna explain what open source is? From what I understand it's just being able to add, tweak the OS & will a bazillion different phones I don't see that as a plus. Jailbreaking an iPhone gives you the ability to do just about anything with customization, 3rd party apps, lots of package sources, etc. Just don't have a battery draining 5 inch screen.

I recently switched from an Iphone with ATT to a droid with Verizon.

They have pros and cons.

The iphone battery life is by far better.

I like the larger screen size on the droid.

Both systems have good apps.

downloading and updating apps is better on the droid. That may be due to 4gte vs 3g.
I always had to connect the Iphone to computer to update.

I like both phones and if the Iphone had been available with 4gte, I would have bought another Iphone.

I think I would rate the Droid a little higher than the Iphone.

The only downside with the droid is the battery life.

I can say Verizon is way better than ATT in my area.

Just my 2¢

You don't have to connect the iPhone to a computer to update since October. It wasn't a huge hassle when you did have to though. What was it maybe twice a year thing? In all likelihood the next iPhone will have a larger screen but I don't see it being in the gimmicky area some of these phones have went to. I don't see the big deal with 4G vs 3G being a pro or a con. You can stream & surf just as good on one as the other. Updating & downloading apps isn't an everyday thing & when I update an app I'm rarely waiting to use it so whether it's 4G or 3G doesn't matter. I would rather wait an extra 30 seconds with the better phone anyway. Jmo. Btw my iPhone 4S is 4G now.

The iPhone 4/4S is not a 4G phone, that is a marketing ploy by ATT. It is the way AT&T’s HSPA+ network detects and identifies itself.
