Is Butch Over Paid

With all the mess Butch inherited, I believe he's earned, and is deserving of his salary. He's been an excellent recruiter, and is restoring our depleted roster as we speak. He's pretty much over achieved in all aspects of his job thus far. I believe the only thing we can say he didn't over achieve at, or exceed our expectations with, was in the W/L column. The W's will come soon though.

wow, some people really don't get it.
something special is happening on the hill right in front of our eyes ,its magic and still some of you cant see it or you don't want to see it.

We couldn't have gotten a better coach to rebuild our program if we had a wish from a Genie. Butch is doing exactly the right things to rebuild us and get us back in the top 10. No one could have done any better up to now, not even saint nick. As long as he keeps recruiting like he is then nothing will stop us.

Its all about recruiting. Recruit the talent and the wins take care of themselves.

This would make sense if he had more talent to work with last year than he did, and an easier schedule would've helped, too. So, given his circumstances and his recruiting success so far, no, he isn't overpaid.

well it is Tennessee do you think the schedule should be easier ? just because Butch gets it ? CBJ is paid a lot of money,he needs to perform this year, undefeated or go home

Head Coach/ School/ Salary
Nick Saban- Alabama -$5.3 million*
Kevin Sumlin -Texas A&M -$5 million
Steve Spurrier- South Carolina -$4 million
Gus Malzahn -Auburn -$3.85 million
Les Miles- LSU- $3.7 million
Mark Richt- Georgia- $3.2 million
Hugh Freeze- Ole Miss- $3.0 million
Will Muschamp -Florida- $3.0 million
Bret Bielema- Arkansas -$2.95 million
Butch Jones -Tennessee- $2.9 million
Gary Pinkel -Missouri $2.8- million
Dan Mullen- Mississippi State- $2.6 million
Mark Stoops- Kentucky- $2.2 million
Derek Mason-Vanderbilt-Unknown(Private University)

*Note: Nick Saban has reportedly received an extension and raise to $7 million, but it hasn’t been finalized yet.

10th out of 13 known salaries and "overpaid" is what OP and others think?? Absolutely pathetic..Fans who start this kind of rubbish are EXACTLY why UT is in the shape it is now..Get Real..UT was in an abyss when CBJ took over and from what I've seen he might be one of the most UNDERPAID coaches in NCAA Football..Until a coach, in this case CBJ, is allowed to implement his system, with his players, the UT football program will remain in the basement of the SEC..PATIENCE is what is needed, not kneejerk reactions to salaries..The wins will come and if they don't, well THEN is the time to start threads claiming CBJ is "overpaid"..Until he has a full 4 seasons, and 4 recruiting classes, folks should lay off salary discussions and job evaluations..PERIOD.....

What I hope for this season is 6 or more Wins and a bowl game Win.

That will give our AD valid reasons to give buTch, Thig and the rest of our staff a decent pay raise to try and guarantee they don't go elsewhere for more money.

Coaching consistency is badly needed for us and the way Thig has recruited he needs a pay raise right now!

I do not think 6 wins should constitute a raise. He needs to do something above and beyond the normal.

A seventh regular season win, and then a bowl to make it eight. Now that would be the mark and he would deserve a very nice raise. As that would be 2 wins where we are not favored to win, possibly third depending on which bowl we attend.

Jones is towards the bottom of the SEC in terms of salary. You can't pay someone pocket change and expect them to rebuild a demolished program. During Jones' tenure UT has actually beaten a ranked opponent, recruited better than 90% of the other SEC programs, and developed players that we thought were a lost cause IE Palardy. He's shown he can develop talent, out coach long tenured SEC coaches (Spurrier), and outrecruit pretty much everyone in the conference not named Saban.

Still waiting for the results to carry over to the play on the field. Things can look good on paper but they might not materialize.

Well then keep on waiting, chief. The schedule is still brutal this year, our team is talented but still young and "immature" relative to a lot of other teams.

Buckle up and brace for impact, because if you're hinging everything on immediate results, then you're not only ignorant to reality but you're about to be very disappointed. Again.

The 18-35 yr old generation doesn't get that. To them, people should be paid what the collective underclass thinks is "fair".

Careful there, fade... don't generalize that age range too much. :) (Make it 18-32 so I'm out of the range...) :)
