Is DirecTV Now A Game Changer?

I get the same channels as the best Vue package, minus epix, plus some and it's half the price. DVR will happen early 2017 and the service will only improve and my price of $38 is locked in with no contract.

Looks crisper on vue, DVR, more than 2 streams at once, and I like the UI for Vue better. JMO

DVR is why I haven't tried DTV Now. I don't really watch live tv and I don't want to skip from app to app to find a show I want to view.

If DTV has the same DVR setup as Vue, I would have switched day 1. I suspect by the time they do have it, their promo will be over and it'll be too expensive. Not a fan of their pricing outside the promo deal.

Not sure if it's something with settings or what, but DTVnow is pixalated compared to Vue.

Yeah ok. Then why are you in this thread then? I don't believe anyone asked or is concerned with what you use for cable.

I came here to see, once again, if I were missing something about the hype surrounding "cord cutting". To me, it still just sounds like a pain in the @$$.

I'm typically all about trimming the fat off of a monthly expense, but this doesn't seem to be efficient enough to make it worth doing.

What exactly is this pain in the ass you speak of?

Well, dudes cable hasn't worked in 2 days...

I've had a similar outage with Comcast, TWC, AT&T, and other cable companies.

I'm not trying to convince you if anything,I really don't care what you do lol. For me though, even if I wasn't saving any money, I would prefer to go with streaming, it offers more IMO.

Cable goes out too. So what specifically is the pain in the ass that is different than cable?

Having to have multiple accounts (use this one for ESPN, this one for AMC, this one for History, yada yada)

Streaming

My cable never goes out, so there's that

Multiple devices (fire stick, Apple TV, etc)

And the fact that the savings are about as much as a pizza...

Not worth it to me.

Fyi, I have an Apple TV and it does nothing that my cable can't do. I got it as a wedding gift and it's like...meh..

I have one device, all the channels you mentioned are on DIRECTVnow. For $30.

If I wanted, I could get everything that satellite and cable has for the one time price of Firestick, Chromecast. or Roku plus internet...basically Kodi has almost everything, including movies that are at the theaters right now...I was amazed how easy it was to give up cable and satellite...I probably watch less TV now than millennials

Teens (12-17) watched 14 hours and 18 minutes of traditional TV per week in Q2, a rather large 13.5% drop year-over-year and a 36.2% contraction over the past 5 years;
Older Millennials (25-34) watched 20 hours and 56 minutes per week in Q2, a 5.5% decrease year-over-year (up from 3% in Q1) but a more expansive 25.6% drop over 5 years;
Gen Xers (35-49) watched 29 hours per week, just a 1% decrease year-over-year but a 12% decline over a 5-year period;
Adults aged 50-64 watched 40 hours and 18 minutes per week, representing a 1% increase year-over-year, but a 1.9% drop over 5 years; and
Adults aged 65 and older watched 48 hours and 38 minutes per week, up 1.2% from the previous year and up by 5.1% over 5 years.
