Is it Hooker or the "system"?

It really IS both. Pruitt would have completely wasted Hendon. JG may have actually been decent in Heupel's system, but it would not be like this.
No. JG was only decent in private high school New Jersey football. Thats it.

I've had a few back and forths on the board over the last couple of days about whether UT's success is due, entirely or primarily, to Hooker or to "the system" put in place by Huepel & Co. There seem to be two schools of thought: those that want Hooker to win the Heisman say its his mostly if not entirely his ability, while those that hope that this is a long term trend for success for UT over the long haul are hoping its the system and the coaching.

To me it is a bit of both, but I am firmly in the camp that Hooker is a special, once in a blue moon type of talent. I think future teams will get coached differently to match their particular talents. But right now, this season, it is Hooker that gets the credit, imo.

Both, Hooker is good and he should be. He is 26 and this is his 2nd year in the system. Huepel has made all of his QBs better at every stop.

Can you imagine Josh Dobbs in this system ? The thought of that 2016 team with Heupel coaching makes me..........dream of what could have been.

FACT...The most important player on the field is the QB. When we have great ones, we play great. When we do not...we are not so hot. Second...having a coaching staff that get's it done on offense...like wooohooo play calling, and to this point does just enough on defense to win is absolutely amazing. Thank you to everyone involved in the decisions to get us where we are. Now...finish with SEC and NCAA Championship trophies and build a defense to match the offense for the remaining years in my life and I will be happy, happy, happy.

He’s 24, sorry. Still older and more mature than past standards. His exact age doesn’t deter from point that was being made.

You’re not wrong. I mean Milton couldn’t do it. The QB has to have the ability and Hooker seems like he can drop the ball on styrofoam cup just about anywhere you put it on the field.

You’re also not entirely right because special guys usually don’t just “sprout over night”. In my experience the special guys are special as freshman too. Or at least they show flashes. This is the same guy UVA showed the door. Anyone saying that they knew this guy is special when he landed on campus is as full of it as a dawg fan.

You can’t be following recruiting our 23 class is nice with the best Qb in the country solid overall OL and weapons and a really good defense class but our 24 class is about to be EPIC…

Yeah I follow recruiting the QB is "Supposed to be really good" so was Harrison Bailey. I'm the major guys who are producing for us are about to be gone and the freshmen and sophomores are not the guys who playing key roles. I want to see those guys contribute more those are the guys that Hype guys'. I believe in him and his system. He's done a great job of getting more out of less.
