Trying to determine if the reason we run much more conservative calls when we are

1. In the red zone
2. Backed up in our half

Is it because they don’t trust Joe?

Or is it because Alex left?

Curious as to the opinions of others.

Redzone playcalling will be limited when you don't trust what the QB is seeing.. OC should have kept throwing to White today. I'd like to hear his thoughts on why we didn't target him more..They jumped all.over us in the 3rd quarter and it was a avalanche from there. Milton gets rattled too when things go bad..You can see it in his body language..

Baffled at how often they threw the ball before with him being terrible, then acted like they couldn't in the 2nd half after he was playing extremely well.
Joe was passing good today, why they went to what they did makes no sense. Not sure why they ran Small so much when Wright and Sampson ran it better
I just don't get why change in the 2nd half

I said games ago that White needs to be his first look.

Bama has a play call in Man match called MME, which is man match everywhere. They used it on White in the second half. This meant he was usually covered by a dedicated defender and a second man in zone.

Then it's up to Milton to find the mismatch.. Another reason why they don't trust him..

Milton played a great game, but you have to give your QB a chance to win! The score was 34 to 20 but the game was closer than that, but the calls were just too conservative! 4th & 1 in the shotgun was a joke! The Vols lost that game in the 2nd half!

I think those are two completely different scenarios.

The reason you run and do high percentage plays backed up inside your own endzone is to give your punt team enough room to operate. Every team is conservative in this scenario. Opposing DBs are eager to jump routes and DLineman are looking to make a negatuve play.

As for the redzone woes, I think it has alot to do with the lack of our receivers to create separation and/or high point a ball. Also Milton isn't the best at putting the right amount of touch in his throws.

The ones on here attacking the team, is it that time of the month? Like chill. Heupel has brought us to relevance, we’re close to competing for the promise land. Why are you throwing a toddler fit?
What are we close to? Tell me what the season means to you when you lose to FL, Bama, and GA? Shall we celebrate beating the teams that we should be beating every year without issue?

To me, saying they don’t trust the QB makes little sense. If you can’t trust your QB then make a change. I think it’s playing not to lose rather than to win.

The play calling has just been bad. Very vanillia.

Milton is not Hooker. It’s more than just Joe Milton though, There is no leadership in that WR room. White is tough but he needs help. Losing Bru hurt. Thorton is absolutely terrible and Keyton has regressed. I thought maybe with him but he just doesn’t have the reliability.
