I was just wondering if it is to early to worry that are not any commitments. I know CDD and his staff has some ground to make up, but so did Lame Kitten. I know that recruiting is an up and down thing. I just don't see any buzz around Tennessee right now. I do feel CDD is going to do a good job but if we want to have another top 10 class we need to get the ball rolling. I hope they can get some excitment going around Knox Vegas real soon. Let me know what you think Volnation. MTOWGD

Given how often young men change their commitments in today's college football, I'm not worried about the lack of commitments. I was more worried that a lot of kids that expressed interest in us were saying they were hearing absolutely nothing from us, but that seems to have calmed for me since more and more upper-tier players are finally hearing from the staff after the others(not Chaney and Thompson) are finally settling in. If we get into September without at least 1 commitment I might worry, but it's still too early to worry about commitments as long as good players are being contacted and listening.

well well well...i got pounded on here for saying this from day one. i gave dooley a chance and was excited and talked myself into thinking he was great. but sense he has been hiding from the press and hasint said anything besides the same talking points over and over i reaaallly think he is going to have 2 years. this recruiting class is starting to slip away.( and before you say OHHHHhH its still early!!!, it really isint. texas is about done with their class, i mean kids are starting to make their minds up now.)

I mean i want him to be great and the next superstar coach in the sec but i just dont think he fits us. i mean the guy hasint even said anything about spring practice and it is about to start...

i hope im wrong but this has been a tale of too seasons...last year i couldint wait for the future and every day there was somthing new and exciting going on. this year i almost dont want to check this site because i know its going to be slow and nothing going on...

i hope hammy has a idea who he is going to go after next

Yes, very early. These kids that you are worrying about are still in their junior year.

EB: "Dooley has asked former players to leave... Reply
practice!" EB and Chris Scott were just on the radio discussing the fact that former football players from this past year have been asked to leave. Berry is pissed off about the whole situtation. Berry said his roommate texted him while he was in FL training and said Dooley asked him along with other players to leave practice. I don't know what kind of practice i guess passing league.
I think if this is true, Hamilton better step in right now. This is the kind of things that can tear a part a football team. This is the last thing that we need to happen.

if you want something to worry about then worry about this post from a credible source on VQ.

I find it funny that people on this board flame Kiffin for supposedly crapping on UT's "traditions," then Dooley tells one of the greatest Vols of my lifetime to take a hike.

You read that wrong, he did not tell Berry to leave. Also, rumor.

No it's not too early. We are doomed to have a class full 2 and 3 star recruits. This will get Dooley fired at the end of the year and we will have to rehire the only person who can turn this program around...Fulmer.

I'm not normally big on the grammar/spelling police, but come on, man! You can do better!

You truly are delusional, aren't you? You didn't seriously just compare UT's recruiting to Texas did you?

Texas has a network of HS coaches who HELP them evaluate kids from about the time they're in 6th grade. HSFB is king in Texas. Texas picks and chooses from the best 200 or so HSFB players in the state. They usually have a good idea of who they're going to offer before the kids play their Jr season.

I mean i want him to be great and the next superstar coach in the sec but i just dont think he fits us. i mean the guy hasint even said anything about spring practice and it is about to start...
Oh. I get it. He isn't a publicity hound therefore he's doomed to fail, right?

I don't care what he says to the public right now. I do care that he's saying the right things to the team and recruits right now... but I am fine with the fact that he decided not to tell YOU.

i hope im wrong but this has been a tale of too seasons...last year i couldint wait for the future and every day there was somthing new and exciting going on. this year i almost dont want to check this site because i know its going to be slow and nothing going on...
Oh. Another piece of the puzzle. If you don't feel excited like you did a year ago the sky must surely be falling, right?

Here is the one quasi-reasonable thing you posted.

If Dooley's way of doing things isn't showing signs by two years from now then he should be on a very, very hot seat or looking for another job. Considering the quality of the last two recruiting classes, I think we will know after the '11 season if things are heading in the right direction or not.

PS- I can't find record of UT signing two consecutive top 10 classes in the last 10 years or so.

Your spelling and grammatical errors make me ashamed to be from Tennessee. No wonder people think we sleep with relatives, half our population can not read or write.

The number of commits would not bother me at all if it was not for the fact that the recruiting buzz right now for Tenn is terrible. I mean really, name 10 upper tier players that have said Tenn is in there top 10 or 5.

News Flash: verbal commitments aren't binding. Ask Georgia about that commitment Da'Rick gave them last summer. Check back in about 11 months to see actual results.

In the mean time, get used to the silence from Dooley. He lets his actions do his talking. If a recruit needs to see him on ESPN or in the papers on daily basis to want to come here, then we don't want him. Dooley doesn't need to talk to build himself up. He's busy building relationships in geographic regions and HS programs that will serve UT well now and in the future. He has something called a vision and a gameplan and process for achieving it, unlike the prior HC who just recruited off the ranking sheets and offered anyone and everyone on them regardless of need, cultural fit, etc.

I'd think better of the situation if we had at least one commitment. Kids commit to go where other star players are going. Just MHO
