Is it too early to worry?

Is anyone worried? With our rivals picking up good ones.
Just wondering....

The problem is we all felt like we got kicked in the nuts and we are wanting the instant gratification of some payback. Give Dooley some time revenge is a dish best served cold.

I hope so... I think he is just going through offering kids he know's he wants.. Evaluating the rest.. IMO

I don't see Dooley offering every player just because they can run a 4.46 and have all the measurables. Dooley is looking for players with character and not some of the ne'er-do-wells that Kiffin and Co. seemed to be in search of. It takes longer to evaluate someones character than it does their 40 time.

I'm really kind of amused by the "buzz" statements. Every day there seems to be a new post on this forum concerning some highly recruited kid talking about liking UT and Dooley. I wonder if some of these "world revolves around me" posters seriously think the only way a recruit hears about or draws a good impression about a program is through media stunts and embarrassing Sportscenter scroll lines.

yea I dont know where that perception comes from but just about every night, myself, rex or LV post a recruit having us in their top 5....

The number of commits would not bother me at all if it was not for the fact that the recruiting buzz right now for Tenn is terrible. I mean really, name 10 upper tier players that have said Tenn is in there top 10 or 5.

Pretty sure that either the kid from Sapp's HS in GA or the kid from WA will be the highest rated TE. Both have UT high.

Beyond that... Did Rivals rate or rank recruits yet?

Accord to this link, almost all of Scout's early top players have UT in their lists: Scout.com: Football Recruiting

Some of those lists may have been made before the coaching change but the interest of several of those kids has been confirmed on this very forum since Dooley took over.

The important "buzz" isn't the one YOU hear. The important "buzz" is what recruits are saying or thinking right now.

Great point.

BTW, the reason UT doesn't have any verbals right now probably has alot to do with having 3 coaches within 2 years and with the last one creating ALOT of negative "buzz" on his way out.

dont know why people want a verbal commit now then ***** about him decommiting later. some of you people kill me sometimes

That was pure sarcasm on my part. There has been this notion that these coaches can't recruit and it is untrue. They will get theirs and it may not be now and not in november or december but by signing day they will have a great group of guys that will represent the university well on and off the field.

Ok now why dont you look at the top prospects on the scout list you provided. Now that you have done that look at the number of prospects that we have a legitimate shoot at getting. Make sure you take in account that (like you mentioned) the list for some of theses players are outdated due to new information. So what top players are we in it for? Oh yeah and resist the urge to list someone like Jadeveon Clowney just because were "listed" by scout.

"My top five schools are UCLA, Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida and Notre Dame and UCLA is my top school right now. I actually grew up a Miami fan and may visit there and some other schools over spring break, but I like UCLA and they're recruiting me pretty hard right now," said Seferian-Jenkins. "I'm just looking for the best fit overall for me. I want to go where I'll be comfortable as a football player and as a student and when I get that feeling from a school, I'll go ahead and make my decision."
ESPN on Seferian-Jenkins so yeah.

No it's not too early. We are doomed to have a class full 2 and 3 star recruits. This will get Dooley fired at the end of the year and we will have to rehire the only person who can turn this program around...Fulmer.
Fulmer will never coach at UT again

SHHHHHHH!!!! We're not supposed to know anything about anything. Remember? We don't need information about this team.

Besides, last year Kiffin booted more commits than we have committed right now. Remember Tahj Boyd and others?

If im not mistaken the recruits that Kiffin booted including Tahj Boyd were class of 2009 recruits not last years. They were Fulmer commits and i guess he didnt like them.

I don't think anyone is sugar coating anything...DD just does things differently...and the info that we do get from rivals, scout, etc... we are in on a lot of recruits...

If you look back to last recruiting season (which we only had 1 commit) the early commits didn't even sign with UT...off of the top of my head I can remember Taylor, Broussard, Ambles, and there is one more...

This and other similar topics are very premature...

I'm sure someone else has said this but there was a question about being worried because our rivals were so far ahead in recruiting for '11. Here's where our rivals are according to TOS:

Alabama - 5 commits
Georgia - 4 commits
Florida - 2 commits

Yeah, they are waaaaaaaay ahead of us. I say sit back and wait because Dooley and crew will do great in recruiting. Get worried next February 1st if we still have no recruits...
