Is Jeff Walz a good investment?

I thought the Tennessee WBB program lost $2.5 million last year. Add to that $700,000 for Coach Warlick's buyout, $1.5 million for Walz's buyout, the increase in Walz's salary over what Walick was getting paid, and Walz's relocation package, and Tennessee WBB is looking at a $6 million deficit next year. That would be $6 million that would not be available for scholarships for smart students and financial aid for poor ones (and for everyone who uses the terms scholarship and financial aid interchangeably, they are not the same things). What is the primary purpose of the University of Tennessee? Is it to educate students or win basketball games? There is only so much money to go around.

Screw that! Just give the nod to the Bag Men and let them go to work.

Never trust a man who keeps hiding his hands.

Walz reminds me of that SNL character who kept smelling her armpits.

He must keep his secret mojo in his rib cage.

Academic and athletic are two separate budgets.

Is he even an option? Does he want to leave ? I guess we will find out soon enough ...

He and Muffet don’t get along really so I wonder does that series get cancelled if he is the head coach ?

Pat & Muffet didn't get along either, but Muffet kept player UT even when she was losing 13 in a row. Coaches schedule what's good for their teams.

I also don’t think Pat ever walked up to Muffet in the congratulatory hand shake line and essentially checked her LOL

You touched on THE key point. LOST money as a program. When we’re an elite program, we generate money. You don’t fix that by skimping on the HC...did that with Holly.

Don’t get flustered, gentlemen. It’s a ucon troll and that is its established modus operandi. Just a good ole guy, never doing no harm; just trying to cause trouble since the day VN was born.🍊🍊

He just lost as a #1 seed to the weakest UCONN team in a while.

Is he worth a $1.4 million buyout and a $1.5 million+ annual salary?
You call a UConn team that starts 2 previous first team AAs, 2 additional #1 HS players, and another top 3 weak? Maybe compared to Breanna Stewart's teams, but this is a damn good UConn team.

I like Walz as a coach and he gets the most out of his talent. But as long as he’s been there and winning it bothers me that he’s not getting more elite talent than he is. Something about his recruiting isn’t as good as it should be. However being at Tennessee may solve that problem, I’m just not sure.

If he comes to UT he already has elite caliber talent here waiting for him
They just need a little summer coaching
to bring it out of them

When did Pat and Muffet not get along? I mean, Muffet never seemed like one of Pat's best coaching friends (i.e. Blair, Balcomb, Vanderveer, Staley) but I never got the idea that they didn't get along.

We just came off the worst season in school history and we are going to nitpick about a #1 seed losing to UConn in the Elite 8? Ok.

Wish fans had been that nitpicky with Holly when the warning signs that she wouldn't cut it have been there from the start.

Regardless, it won't be Walz so everyone should just leave it alone. Our focus should be with us not getting stuck with Kellie, TBH. The more I think about the scenario the more I believe she isn't the answer, even among former LVs.
