Is Mike Bobo the O.C that will beat the Vols.

Bobo's best season at UGAly was 2012, when they lost on the one foot line in the SECCG against bama. Aaron Murray was the Qb. They were pretty good that year and came wihtin an eyelash of breaking thru for Richt. He would never get that close again.

Bobo was also the OC for a lot of really bad teams, such as Auburn in 2021, UGAly 2009 (got spanked by Lame Kitten), 2010 where they finished 6-7 and lost to UCF in the liberty bowl, and 2013 where they went 8-5 and and needed OT to beat Botch in his first year.

I heard a collective sigh of relief from my UGAly buddies when Bobo took the HC job at CSU in 14. This was the beginning of the end for Richt. He lost control of the program for the last time on Nov 29, 2015. Anyone stating they are excited about Bobo is choosing to forget the pain of his last stint. Granted they put up some decent numbers, but they also had a lot of L's while he was there.

Point is, his O can throw it around the field with a good Qb. With a really good D, they probably win a bunch more under Richt. I guess we will see if Beck is really the next big thing.

I’m interested to see what happens.
My take:
1) UGA doesn’t skip a beat (offense takes a small step back due to acclimating to new OC/system) Defense carries them to another 12-0 regular season.

-OR-

2) Bobo is a dinosaur and the dawgs look a-La ‘2019 with Coley and lose a game or 2 they shouldn’t on paper.

I’m hoping for option 2, but also realize TN is undisputedly the hardest game on their schedule. UGA will get up to play us. They always do.

Look at their schedule and talent. My 10 year old daughter could be their OC and they'd go 11-1, at worse....

The system and nomenclature didn't change.

His toys are nicer than what he had during his first stint. I know he’s breaking in a new starter, but he’s choosing between three 5 Star QBs. They’ll keep rolling on offense because of their stacked roster and Bobo does a good job tailoring his play calls to the strength of his roster - he threw it more with Aaron Murray and ran it more with Todd Gurley, for example.

He will def have more toys to play with, but i don't know if any of them are nicer than Aaron Murray, Todd Gurley, or AJ Green. Maybe Bowers is up there, but still hasn't contributed in the stats department like any of those 3. Those UGA teams were loaded, just grossly mismanaged by a coach who was ultimately too soft to win when it mattered.

They will be plenty good with Bobo

Our only hope is that Carson Beck is a little spooked by Neyland, shows his inexperience, and pressure him consistently.

They are unbelievably stacked on offense.

They are extremely deep at receiver now with Lovett, Rara Thomas, Ladd Mckonkey and rosemary jack-saint. (Even though I think all of them got in trouble with the law this year lol)

Then Brock Bowers is like the best TE prospect ever.

I just don't think Bobo is bad enough to mess that up. Hell Jimbo may not even be able to mess that up.

Ugh, I wish I could experience a day of ridiculous heat lol. I live in WY and so far it’s rained just about every day since the start of May 😩

How about dry with highs over 100 since the 2nd week of June? Felt like 114 yesterday! I'm at a point I would welcome a hurricane to blow this damn heat dome out of here.

That is absolutely correct. I'm in Georgia and all of my friends are UGA fans. They are NOT fans of Mike Bobo. They are grateful he was the QB that snapped a massive losing streak against Florida; however, they are not happy with him being back running the offense. Monken was a great OC, that is why the Ravens snapped him up. I would expect a significant drop off in play calling.

I think Coach Richt somehow neglected the OL during his time there, that’s definitely a Big difference between the two regimes.

I don't think he's good anymore but they're so talented and the D will be so good they'll still do well. I think our Defense will be much improved and we have a good chance of slowing them down and winning at home

I’m honestly not sure but I’m confident with Bobo. He did field some of the highest scoring offenses in GA history in his first tenure. Not sure how this works out today but he does have great talent to work with. Time will tell.
You are confident because of your roster. give us your roster and you will be beotch heupel'd
no worries......SOON

Don’t confuse Bobo’s head coaching record with his ability to call plays. They’re two completely different animals. Plus, the coordinators that usually get a shot at head coaching tend to go from a talent rich place to a place where recruiting is in the toilet.

So he didn’t call a single play as HC?

For me to buy into this he needs more than just a few record breaking seasons in 2013 and 2014 when you’ve been coaching since 2007 (or was it 2011?). Feels like a Fulmer type hire to me (love Fulmer but this was a flaw).

GA has a lot of talent though which does make a job a lot easier. Y’all should be able to simply out talent anyone you come across tho.

He was an okay OC his first go round at UGA. Don’t know what he’s learned along the way since then or if he will be significantly better this time. The talent is there. He’ll probably do fine, but Monken would be pretty hard to top.
Most Georgia fans or at least many were ready for Bobo to leave when he was there the first time. Of course he does have more weapons now. GBO

Yeah, Bobo has been at least an OC since 2007. And it’s not like GA was lacking offensive talent in his first tenure. During his tenure GA was consistently loaded at offensive skill positions and well above average on the o-line.

We will see what he has to work with at QB this time around. Probably Beck this season. Beck is talented, and really couldn’t ask for a better situation to get started. We have injury issues at RB but other than that Beck will be surrounded by ridiculous talent on offense. If you can’t play well and grow in this situation, it’s likely time to reevaluate your career goals.

Yep, the roster has much to do with my confidence. It’s also confidence in coaching though. I do see your point though. Having better players certainly makes a coach’s chance for success much more likely.

Proving once again that rank and file UGA fans are the dumbest football knowledge wise fans in the conference because they promptly scored about 15 PPG less the year after Bobo left. This is the same group that wanted to bench Stetson Bennett right up to his last game. The best thing in the world that could happen to us is if UGA fans started influencing their personnel and strategic decisions. Unfortunately, Kirby has won enough that he is currently free to ignore them, at least at the moment.

28-38 as HC at Colorado State. He’s only back at UGA because it’s his alma mater. Kirby’s letting friendship cloud his judgment.
